For some reason the raised bed is rife with Digitalis instead of Poppies. A big change.
It was so nice to get ourside today....
And they looked, and then in unison they said "Hey Mom, did you bring us a treat?"
Balvenie, are you on the right tread? Have made that mistake more than once, LOL
I'm on the thread I meant to be on . It would appear I have interrupted a conversation in progress and for that I apologize.
Its no problem, was just wondering I have made that mistake before.
^_^
Tills,
Your animals crack me up, I think Balvenie is right they are looking for something for them, perhaps a treat! Be sure to post when you have places for all your new plants.
Hugs
Robert,
I love your "RED" poppies, I only have ORANGE, it is about as bright as your red!
Wow, how in the world did you get that stone like that, did you use that hoist/come along? I hope you had help...your sciatica can act up again if you don't take care!
The digitalis look spectacular, isn't the wind and the birds wonderful at creating a whole new look for our gardens, you just never know where something might pop up.
If you have an extra rhubarb start, I would love to try one!
As you can see by Tilly's pictures, I have been very busy. I have many new planting areas and another in progress. I finally convinced my DH that if I had more gardens he had less mowing, and it helps that he loves the new design. Plus he will get tomatoes, green beans, radish, jalapeno, corn...if we get some warmer weather...that is. I so love the way your garden changes from year to year, I have been looking at your blog and enjoying all of it. Really love the stained glass you completed this winter, you are a wonderful craftsman.
Hope all is well in the south end, today was terrible if it was to be compared to yesterday...oh well the inside needs attention too!
Robert!! Lots going on at your place. What's the dark colored bush with the red poppies and the salix? The three of them make a great combination.
And I love the digitalis photo. I think there are more digitalis this year - I'm seeing them in places I haven't before. Wonder if it's the cooler weather.
I need more info!! How did you get the fountain stone raised the 8 inches. How high will it go. What are your plans for the fountain? Good to hear from you and see your garden.
Katie, I believe the plant in question is Cimicifuga. Neither the plant tags or my memory last very long. Chains and a come-along raised the stone. It may even get to working this year, that is if the Digitalis don't take over.
Balvenie, Just love your fountain.
My fur babies are strange, mosly the kitties, they want to know where I have been, if I was gone for a day. The car sets out here all the time and they never go into it, unless I am gone, (mommy not home to sleep with, where did she go) They are Mousers and I don't give them treats, they don't like them anyway. They get there own, and give them to me. LOL.
The dogs are a diff. story they want the treats,
Aha! Cats doing what cats are supposed to do. And it is nice of them to share their larder with you. Our son's three indoor cats have probably never even seen a mouse, let alone caught one.
Mine are really good, out here in the woods, OOO do I sooo need them,
I get all kinds of the little varmints, But the bad side of this is sometimes, not where you want them LOL In the Bed, on the floor to step on, and a lot more.
This is what the dogs most want, besides a cookie, want to go for a ride. While moving my car, after undloading they jumped in the back to go 40 ft. They are both in there. I think thats the right one.
Tills,
I took the time and went back and looked, the plants look like they did marvelous! If you go back and look at Post #5120168 it looks like you are a slave driver, Tilly should not have to pull that wagon full of plants...lol You said they were mousers so they earn there keep without pulling your plants around!
Tyler should not have to help with the digging either, but if you would like to take mine home with you and teach them to dig only where plants need to be put I would appreciate it!
I am still laughing at those pictures, happy planting.
Oh Tills love the tiny iris!
wow tills! your yard is sooo beautiful!
two more days and I get to try to create a similar yard for mom! yippeee!
Robert,
Thanks again for the gift, I promise to take good care of it! If I decide to make a couple of pies with the other gift, I will drop one by....but I was thinking of sugar and milk just to see if it tastes the same...I have not tasted it fresh since I was 8 years old.
Cimicifuga...huh? it does not look like what I am used to seeing, black cohosh correct? That specimen is much prettier....
I think that is what it is. It looks like another one I have in the remnants of the bog garden which still had a name tag buried next to it. But name tags and my memory disappear into a cloud of pixydust faster than you can say, well I thought there was something you could say..
Robert,
Cimicifuga racemosa Atropurpurea...I found seeds, I will try it next year, it certainly adds some nice color! Your memory is fine and so are your tags...lol
Gosh, Robert. Don't think I've ever seen Cimicfuga that big. I've killed two and am going to try it again this year. How much sun does yours get?
Looks like you made quite a haul there, Mary. Glad you guys had a good visit.
Thanks Kathy, we sure did.
Oh Robert, wood love some, but to far away. So you both enjoy it and think of me. Hint Hint (send me some seeds.)
Carla, I had to go back and look and had to laugh, didn't see it at first. But I feed them they should help around the yard. LOL
My DH (!!!) was digging the hole, and Tyler insisted to help, almost got his nose cut off. silly dog.
Also all the plants are doing well, even the Dahlia that look bad.

Tills, could you email the panoramic view of my yard, I love that picture. I would like to send it to my mom and sister. You still have my email address don't you!
I can't imagine how I have missed this thread - what a treat! Thank you, all! Great photos - Cocoa, that is such a great garden, and you know one of the thing I like most about it is that you have not cut it off from people passing by - I bet your neighbours come out for an evening stroll just to see what you have done lately. I am really touched by that waist high chat-over-the-fence-height fence. 5 gold stars, on top of all the rest of the praise we can heap on your work.
Tils, you are a delight. I just loved the panorama - really captured the feel of Cocoa's garden and really let me go for a tour. Thank you - but most of all, I loved the private peep in to her doings. The picture of her coming out of the bed with man-shovel is great! Sorry, cocoa, but you just looked like Woman In Control! Yes! And the haul! Tils did you make the cushions? Perfect colouring - excellent.
Balvenie, I just loved the raised bed of digitalis. Just lovely. And the rest of the garden, the combination of the cimicifuga with the poppies - please more photos - more.
A++ thread, full (fun) marks. More please.
Carla, I will try
Laurie, I bow to you, On my ( as Carla put it, sneaky photos) She should of never left me alone with a camera, LOL
I did not make them, I got them year before last when all summer items when 90% off, didn't know what I was going to do with them at the time, but couldn't pass that up. I knew someday they would have a home. And when She put that surprise pic out there, cause she couldn't wait, I knew one had a new home.
Heres another she didn't know I did.
This is off the deck, some time after midnight. Its a bit fuzzy, looks like a art project.
Yup, Tils - not one of your best ones - but I think you are just being polite to show all of us duffers you don't always get it right. Thank you, much appreciated. (winking)
Can't say I never tried, Have lots of bad ones LOL
This was setting at the ferry, after leaving Carla's missed the boat by 3 cars had to wait for the next one.
In the pic you can see the boat coming in, to the left of that boat the little white dot is the one I missed. Its hot and a full load of plants in the car, got a few funny looks as people walked by the car.
Looks of envy, and trying to think how to mug you for the plants!
Thank goodness, I kept the car locked. They are mine all mine.
