I've found the newer thread and posted here for it to come up next time. We had a sucessful horse show today.
I also had a nice Mother's Day.
DG Names, real names II
Welcome Ivy.
Congrats on the great horse show, jumper!
Hi Jumper!
Hi Jumper, I'm the other Louise aka Weeze. I was into the jumping many, many years ago. But what really bit my bit, so to speak, was dressage. I loved the slow work with the horse. Being in the ring under the hot sun, every little nuance sending a different signal to the horse. Most people wouldn't even see what the rider did to motivate the horse. Yes...I miss that time of my life with those wonderful horses.
me too!!!
'Most people wouldn't even see what the rider did to motivate the horse.'
Wives' secrets! Hee hee.
I'd like to get to that point, Weeze. Currently try to teach horse and DD some dressage. Both need alot of work. DD currently jumps. Horse used to be a barrel racer with DS.
...sigh... I'm just wishing there was a horse nearby that I could visit and pet.
If I lived closer, you'd be welcome.
Oh! I love horses so much!
I have read that somewhere before... LOL
My sister was bit by a Shetland pony once. She was sitting on his fence and he bit her right in the butt! We all got a good laugh out of that one. I'll stay close to a horse or even a cow anyday.
Big teeth, all the better to mow the grass with. I started out on a shetland, then the horse I rode got taller. Not alot as I'm not too tall.
I get to see the horeses & cows our friends have on their NH farm---that's close enough for me!
We have a few horses on my road, got cows too. The cows just had their babies not to long ago and the calfs are the cutest thing to watch play in the field.
Now the neighbor across the street has a Rooster and some hens, the neighbor in the other direction has Alpaca's the ones on the other side had goats but recently got rid of them.........and I have Bunnies!!
Sounds like a very nice place to live---but not in January!
Awe come on! lol
Sounds nice to me. I'll bet you get plenty of snow for skiing. I ski cross-country.
Then you'd love it. I own 18 acres and only use 2.5-3 of it. The rest is mostly field, alot of that around here. Some really nice trails made just for that and alot of golf course's allow you to us it in the winter too.
How about trail riding?
Yes, I use to go when I was younger.....waaaaayyyyyyyy younger. ^_^
Psh. You're not that old to use the phrase "way younger".
Ok, let me put it this way.....im 49 (next month) and I haven't been since I was in my 20's!
Body handles things differently. I'm in the same boat at times.
By the way, I heard a filly won the Preakness. I can't watch the races anymore, but.....Girls Rule!
Derby winner almost caught her, but no triple crown again this yr.
She's got a very pretty face----looks like a filly!
Not a fan of horse racing. Too much stress for the poor animals.
Victor--thoughbreds like it. J-2's horse not a Tb, but she get bored if they are not jumping, or barrel racing etc. If just riding around in a circle she is unhappy. Sort of like a border collie, she needs something to do. Her sister ran cross country in school--lot more stress for a longer time.
They survived for many years without racing!
When you are surviving in the wild that's one thing, When domestcated they prefer something to do. Running is a natural instinct.
Sure, but running is different from being pushed so hard to race.
In company, alot of horses naturally race. They just expand on that natural impulse.
yes our barrel horses always raced themselves in the turn outs... esp. when the weather was like this
:)
Hi everyone. I'm Kelly and I live in sunny, hot Phoenix, AZ. I'm a veggie gardener!
Hi Kelly! But it's a dry heat.^_^
Welcome aboard, Kelly.
