This morning I watched my Red Bellied Woodpecker family getting lessons on cracking those sunflower seeds.

OK Guys, listen up.

All of these were taken from quite a distance.

Right in the midst of taking these, hubby decided I needed to go to the hardware store for him.

I was amazed that when I returned, he was still feeding the fledglings. I wish the photo had been clearer. This last one was taken from inside the house.

Nice pics all!

I left the (one of) greenhouse door open today as we had a rare 82F, when I returned soon after there was a young Robin with a parent which looked to be trying to get it back out, they were flying up at the wrong end of course.

Parent watching me.

The young Robin landed on the back.

I tried to help the young one out, parent disappeared on the floor, I think it could see where parent was.

I opened the window as wide as I could and decided to leave them to get themselves out. Parent says thanks.

I heard a thud on the window this afternoon, a female House Sparrow had hit it seeing the reflections. She was upside down and stunned on the fuchsia bed below, I put her in my hand and stroked her back. One foot was clasped, she was much smaller than I imagined. I put her on a broad branch of a tree to recover, she was gasping, shutting her eyes, shaking. It seemed she might not survive, I was stood nearby talking softly to her. After a long time and she was still alive I went behind her and her head followed me. Still there a while later, I bent down to pull a couple of weeds and when I looked she had gone! A male flew to the pergola where a female was sat, they flew together to a nearby tree, I think it was her. I was so relieved!

Who says House Sparrows are not cute!
