She was upside down and stunned on the fuchsia bed below, I put her in my hand and stroked her back. One foot was clasped, she was much smaller than I imagined. I put her on a broad branch of a tree to recover, she was gasping, shutting her eyes, shaking. It seemed she might not survive, I was stood nearby talking softly to her. After a long time and she was still alive I went behind her and her head followed me. Still there a while later, I bent down to pull a couple of weeds and when I looked she had gone! A male flew to the pergola where a female was sat, they flew together to a nearby tree, I think it was her. I was so relieved! Who says House Sparrows are not cute! |
