Thanks for posting all the beauties everyone! lilyfan, I just ordered a Purple Reign and am so glad I did after seeing your photo. Also ordered a Pink Giant, Radiance, Orania and Luxor. Now I really need to get my new bed ready for them soon. Hard when about the time I can dig, it rains again. Still only Montenegro blooming here.

First Lilies Part II
GAJO take care of DH, we will all be here when you have time to do the less important things.
Susan, I'd been wanting PR for years, it is everything I hoped for. I think it is so far along because it lives next to the foundation of the porch on the east side. I do have a marty blooming right now but it is raining AGAIN.
Buff Pixie opened yesterday
Some have too much rain, and some have none.Mike
My DD and her family are going downtown Des Moines to watch the water from the released reservoir come into town. I believe DSM is better prepared than '93 but it istill an extreme situation.
It's a mess down this way. Water is going over the spillway at the Coralville Reservoir dam again. The second time in 50 years it's went over the spillway and it's supposed to be as bad if not worse than it was in 1993. Nasty business. I always knew there was a reason I lived on top of a hill.
I hear downtown Des Moines is going to be a mess too..
Iowa is not the only state having horrible flooding, other places are having far worse than us. Nasty business.
Mags!!! You have lilies blooming!! That's not fair!! :) LOL My lilies are on the verge...
The lake that is no more, wasn't that Lake Delton? from the Wisconsin Dells? Tommy Bartlett won't be putting on any ski shows there this summer. Did the dam collapse? So sad and very scary for those in it's path.
Yes, Lake Delton. They have also had problems with the Baraboo River in the same area. The historic Mid-continent Railway Museum has been flooded out. They were able to save many historic documents (stuff over 150 years, that you just can't replace). That area is a mess.

Oh man, what a mess.
Wow Mags, your Earliest Pink Rosepoint Lace has me drooling all over. Just love it!!
Will my buds EVER open? They just keep getting fatter and fatter. . . Just planted these this spring, but can't remember if these are the Starfighter or the Muscadet. I go check on them every morning (along with all my other green babies.) Somehow I'd thought that they would be taller than this. Do they get bigger in subsequent years, or should I move these closer to the front of the border?
Rosepoint Lace is a beauty. My asiatics are still a ways off, but the martagons should open soon.
Poor Baraboo. I hope the International Crane Foundation is okay. Don't think they're near the river. Can't recall anyway. One of my favorite places anywhere, if anyone's in the neighborhood. Majestic birds, not massive construction equipment.
Ah Wicker, glad you clarified that. :) I love massive construction equipment! :) LOL Of course, the birds are nice too! :)
Booker ~ yes, your lilies will be shorter the first year, particularly when they're planted in the spring.
you must be right. will check the tag again! i love yours much better than mine! :)

Sometimes places mix up the varieties. It happens. So when we so diligently label and then are wronged, well it just doesn't seem right, does it?
Yours are beautiful!
thanks! i think i have it. i think the pink is Petite Pink and the yellow is Traveller. actually, i got a lot of my lilies from two coops during the winter. one of them is having trouble with them being mislabeled. so far, i know i have 3 sets of bulbs that are not what they were supposed to be!
tracie
The co-ops are great, but when you buy from the growers (like the ones in the northwest) at least you are guaranteed if it's not what you ordered, you'll get a replacement of the one you DID order. And you get to keep the one they sent by mistake. That's one of the things I love most about buying from the growers. The other lilies are great, yes. It's just often I haven't had much luck getting what I ordered. And I tend to be a picky lily lover ^_^ I want what I want, you know? Lol!
Wicker, the Sand Hill Cranes nest just below our house in the river bottoms. Chippewa river. No flooding here, but river is mighty high. Someone is going to be getting a lot of water below us.
Mags, don't know how you do it. You aren't too far below me. All I have is Martagons with buds, possibly opening in a week.
Maxine
Well Tracey - congrats on your lily bloom!! An d a fragrant one at that! It is beautiful.
Nice "Corrida", Georgia Jo!
Aggie, a lot of mine are on the downhill slide due to the heat. I have another round though coming up that I planted this spring so hopefully they'll be OK. Silk Roads are just opening though by my fence. Yours are very nice!
Beautiful, mattsmom! But then I love yellow lilies :-)
Such a wonderful clear yellow.
Thanks, the tag just said Pixie Yellow. But I've been told repetedly you can not trust the tags to be true from the box stores.
I didn't see any weeds.....................that bright color blinded me to those green invaders!
Thanks Sue, you're a sweetie. But alas, there are tons of weeds in my gardens. They can get in, I can't as it is way too wet..
I have the same situation. Most of the weeds are now taller than the lilies who seem to be very miniture this year....if they showed at all!
I have very robust lilies growing most everywhere, but I also have as many robust weeds... Eventually, it will quit raining and I'll get back to weeding.. And mulching.
GJo, Corrida is a nice one. The pink shading is so pretty.
Diann, does your orange and yellow one have wavy edges on the petals? Nice bright flower!
GAJo how did I miss your picture! What a beautiful flower and great photo :-)
