What's the difference between a mesh cover and a solid cover Victor?
Today's Weather in Your Garden - 22
The primary reason for a mesh cover is safety. They're also called safety covers. No one will drown if they find themselves on top of it. It is supported by many strong springs and would just depress like a trampoline. My little guy actually did step onto it when I turned my back for one second a couple of years ago so it may have saved his life and has paid for itself a million times.
The other advantage is no off-season maintenance. With a solid cover you have to keep pumping the water off and prevent mosquito hatching. The autumn leaves fall onto it and get stuck in the water. It's a real mess. The one advantage is that your water can stay pretty clean so there is less work in opening it. The safety cover is more expensive too. But the choice was a no-brainer for me.
72 , very sunny with a nice breeze.....a very comfortable day!
Oh, hey. That makes sense. Now ask me if my neighbors EVER pump the gross, standing water off their solid pool cover. The answer is nope. Eeeeew.
Hey Vic, I'm coming down to that nice pool of yours tomorrow! be wating for me heheh! Clem
Bring your hazmat suit!
Oh I'm all ready! Clem
Nice and cool - 66. Another open window night! Not a big fan of sleeping with A/C.
So, I want your pool around 90 degrees, then it lwill be good for me tomorrow, when I show up, mmmmmmmmmmmmm, you know i come from the tropics???? And I do not wnant your 66 weather tonight! Clemen
Yes demanding lady hehehe!
It's a gorgeous evening!
There's just a few nights each summer that are so hot it's miserable trying to sleep. I was thinking of getting a whole house fan to help out on those nights instead of a/c.
I have one, Harper, and that's what we use most of the time. They work great.
Well, it seems like things are getting back to normal out there for all of you.
Victor: You just answered every question I ever had about swimming pools in your area ! LOL I always wondered about the leaf issue.
Hee hee. It's a pleasure to see the leaves just blow off the mesh cover.
Nice WC.
The last 2 days have been gorgeous, outside yesterday from 7am - 7pm. Humid weather is coming back with 89 and Tstorms predicted today.
I second Debilu's weather she lives nearby.
Beautiful ocean shot WC
56 and so lovely outside! Time to get a move on!
Good grief! That's almost as bad as the snow in Washington last week. Enough!
Yeah. It's a bit chilly in our neck of the woods, Sherrie.
Currently, 45° with the humidity at 66% and the dewpoint at 43°. But it should be day number two of a gorgeous stretch of weather, with the high temp getting into the 80s. Oh yeah. The barometric pressure is 30.27 in. and steady.
Good luck to everyone on this Friday the 13th!
50 here and sunny.....got very cool last night. Western Mountains of Maine had frost warnings last night and I could here my brother muttering 70 miles away as he covered his veggies. LOL
Wow!
The sound sure echoes up there in Maine, doesn't it?
LOL!
Exactly Sherrie!!
I called him to make sure he saw the warning....he was muttering and I heard a curse or two.
60 and gorgeous! Hopefully my final day of planting.
71 - sun is hot, breeze is cool.
WC - swimming just isn't worth it without the salt! The water temp here is 62; a little shocking.
Nanegoat...its just right in my opinion! California is too cold, Florida is way way too warm. Many days on the Treasure Coast the water was warmer than the air. Dipping into an ocean sized hot tub is not very refreshing (but the water looks great on TV)
David - It doesn't stop me, either - just gotta catch your breath on the first plunge of the day!
Water at 62 is COLD!! 78 and sunny.
Do not go in the ocean when you come to Acadia then.......
It's that cold in August?!!
86. Very hot in the sun again. Got all the planting done. Still have a bit of mulching to do - and of course lots of weeding, if I decide to do it. This is the time of year that I always poop out. I have had enough at this point. I will do stuff on and off when I'm in the mood from now through August. Problem is the same areas tend to get neglected!
Yes Victor....62-63 is the water temps here.....

Wow - that's chilly. My wife will definitely not be going in!! Anything under 85 is cold to her. She's like Clem.
I can remember the 1st time stepping into the water at Sandy Beach in Acadia--blue feet in seconds! The ocean water does warm nicely in Kennebunk--usually by Aug! That's the only month I've gone in down east. A nice day--the color I painstakingly chose for the beadboard looks terrible up there--bought some darker color for trim--hope that works. Not as cool tonight--had to close the windows last night.
Given the choice of a pool or hot tub, I'll take the hot tub! Cold water just doesn't do it for me, either. I used to love the bay side of Cape Cod because the water was always warmer. Nice to visit the ocean for a day or two, but I like the warmer waters.
Still warm here after a beautiful day. Spent most of it working with orchids and only made it through about 50% of them! Maybe I can finish the rest before the rain tomorrow.
Another 90 degree day again, I went out to try to get the rest of my "freebie" planting done around 5:30pm so it's not broiling out. About 7PM it was actually nice out about 85 with a breeze.
