Hi i am new here...and i am just wondering when will the daisies start to bloom or to notice that they will bloom, i had planted them a week ago... yes i know i only had them a week but i was just wondering when i will notice the difference in them?? I wanted something new and i am soo terrified that they wont turn out.
When do the Livingstone daisies start to bud??
If you just planted them chances are they'll wait a little bit, often plants take a little time to get their roots settled before they bloom. Once they get a little bit established, I think they bloom on and off most of the season so hopefully you won't have to wait too long.
Don't know what zone you are in, but when they do start to bud, you will notice little ball type buds first, then they burst into flower, if they are in shade or the clouds form then you will not find open flowers as it is the heat from the sun that opens the flowers up, the flowers come in all colours from pink, purple, white, orange and yellow, when you water, try not to wet the foliage as this plant is very easy to rot at the base of the stems, they dont stand up like normal flowers but lay flat along the ground and the foliage is very fleshy, the slugs and snails love them, so if you have them in your zone, watch out for them as they will destroy your plants in one night. the flowers dont open in the morning till the temp has come up. Good luck, just be patient a bit longer. WeeNel.
Thanks for the tips and the information...the daisies look like they have rooted ...now all they have to do is bloom! In the part of Canada that i'm in, everything is 2-3 weeks behind due to the weather being a little cooler then usual! Raining all the time! I'm in Manitoba but this week it looks like we are getting back on track! Thanks again All!!
Hi again Hemmer, I'm in the same boat as you, we hit a cold spell just after the spring had started, so all my garden is a good bit behind, for that reason, I dont put out my summer flowering plants till mid May or the start of June as the cold nights can kill off the tender new shoots the little plants have grown, also the cold soil can really kill off the roots or wet cold soil is every bit as bad, try be patient, you may get a good show before long. good luck. WeeNel.
Thanks WeeNel and ecrane 3.....Our weather here is starting to improve...The sun is staying more then one day and my daisies are looking perkier each day, now i'm just waiting for them to bud! I need some more color in front of my house ...lol..i'm just so afraid they aren't going to bud! They are at a place where they have at least 6 -8 hours of sun! The leaves are beautiful! So healthy! Now all i'm doing is waiting! I guess that 's what i expect when everything is 3 weeks behind! Good old Manitoba weather never know what you are going to get!! Anyways i'll let you know how they are doing! Ciao for now!! Hemmer 83
I guess all we gardeners really need is to grow patience and have some confidence on the side, your Livingstone Daisies sound like they are doing fine and everything they should be doing, if the foliage is looking healthy, then all you can do is wait for the wonderful little flowers to come through for you, and they will. good luck. WeeNel.
My daises are starting to bud...now i cannot wait to see those beautiful colors in front of my house! All i needed was a little patience....now i just have to wait!
My first daisy has bloomed...a nice yellow one... it is sooo nice i cant wait until the other ones open....they are beautiful flowers!! Cant wait to see what different colors will pop out of them!!
