Ornamental Grasses for Privacy

Hello. I would like to plant ornamental grasses in my pool area along the fence line, that will grow 6+ ft, and provide some privacy from my neighbors. Can anyone suggest a grass that will grow on Long Island, in a sun/partial shaded area?

I know of one if I can just remember the name. I will try to find out from DD an let you know. YEAAA it just hit me. The name is pompas grass. I may be spelled pampas. Check on plant files.

Erianthus ravennae and Miscanthus 'florida' both get about 12' tall. I have both in my garden. Their stalks get pretty thick though, almost like bamboo, and a real pain to cut back in the spring, which you have to do. There is also a very tall daylily named 'autumn minaret' which gets about 5 or 6' in height and would make a nice companion and add late summer color.
Pampas grass gets a very pretty plume on it, I've even seen pink ones, but it's not hardy in my zone 5a. It's planted as an annual around here. If you're going to plant grasses along the property line, be advised that they could spread into your neighbors property. Especially, Miscanthus 'florida'.

pastime--if you look for Cortaderia jubata it is supposed to be hardy to 5a. Cortaderia selloana which is the more widely available pampas grass is only hardy to zone 7.

Thanks for the info ecrane. Although we technically are zone 5a, we live so close to the dip in zone 4b that comes down into Illinois that I always buy zone 4 plants just to be safe.
