one last thing.

i know i have too many questions, and yall are probably sick of me by now. but here goes. i planted these cardinal climbers a while back in pots and they germinated very quickly. after the last frost, i put them in the ground. this is as big as they have gotten. you can barely see them in the grass. i have a few still in pots. they are about the same heighth. is this normal to be so small this late in the season? i am so anxious for them to grow!

How long ago did you plant them? Could be they're taking some time to get their roots going, then they'll take off. I've had that happen with seedlings when I transplant them to a larger pot, it temporarily will slow down their growth. Also I don't know how your weather's been, but if your soil is still on the cool side that may be slowing them down too, and as the soil temps warm up they'll take off. So assuming they look healthy I wouldn't worry too much yet.

thats true. i never thought about it working on its roots right now. that is a good thing. thanks!

From my experience, cardinal climbers don't transplant too well, so you may want to take a peek at the growing point on your little guys. If it's shriveled, you may want to direct sow more seeds right next to them, just in case they don't make it. Good Luck!

well, i kept some in the original pots and they are doing about the same. but the seeds were only a buck, so it wouldnt hurt. thanks.

Mine re-seeded this year and they are about 1.5 inches tall max. Last year, I found they took a while to get going.
