Gardener2005`s Morning Glories Thread 2

Baton Rouge area, LA(Zone 8b)

It is time for a new thread since the other one is getting long. Here is another one I found of the blue one with more doubling. It looks kind of purple in the picture but it is really blue. I thought it was interesting.

Karen,

Your Kikyo Ice is just beautiful.....well, they all are really.

Where could I find seed that grows lime green leaves and a purple flower....what a great combo!

Do you think that would grow here in our Texas heat??

Beautiful blooms Karen.

Oh Karen those are really different, you need to bag that second one and tag the first vine of the first photo, maybe it will carry those genes!!!

Baton Rouge area, LA(Zone 8b)

Thanks! None of these are breeding consistent from seeds yet though it is big fun to find them waiting for me in the morning. The Kikyo Ice is still throwing some solids and has both lime green and dark green leaves so there is more work to do growing, bagging or tying blooms and selecting to get it narrowed down. It is the same situation for the other two. The double blue might carry for pink but that isn`t such a bad idea if it does. :)

Karen - That first one is lovely! All are really nice! :-)

Here are some of mine that bloomed today.

Had a ton of blooms on the Blue Asago Willow. Elegant!

This is the oddly round bloom of Mutant Blue Needle Leaf Nanding. It seems to be throwing more of a star pattern now. No white edging on this bloom either. So fascinating!

Got several blooms on the Reddish Picotee vine.

Reminds me of that song by Michael Jackson (Feed it, Feed it, it won't grow until you Feed it) lol .. I'm not crazy, just have a comical mind.. I was singing that today while I was feeding the mgs..lol

LOL! All my plants respond to the fertilizer. I wonder what they would do if I sang to them, too! LOL! Of course, with my tone-deaf voice ... they'd probably just wither and die! LOL!

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Oh, pooooooh! I just saw that I posted all the daily blooms on the wrong thread. Darn it! Sorry about that Karen. Too bad we don't have the option to just move them. (sigh)

Hi Becky, Good morning. I have enjoyed your company and your blooms. :)

Now, I`m inspired to go out and see if I have a Willow dianthus bloom. I shared that plant in thread 1 and now it is beginning to bloom so I`ll share a picture with ya`ll later.

Gourd, Chores can get so boring if you don`t have something going on in your mind to entertain yourself. I don`t sing or even hum but I do often hear music playing in my memory and fuss over the plants a little making room for a new bloom to open and such.

jordankittyjo, Why not? The more merrier. LOL!!! That must be ipomea tricolor flying Saucers.

Well, today was very hot outside but I managed to get a few pictures to share.

The first is a half fried pink Willow Dianthus flower. Remember this one?

http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=4892167

This is the Willow Dianthus bloom and also it is not duplicate but a single bloom. It really is pink and not a color change. Maybe some of the other blooms will be duplicate or they may carry for that and I`ll see that trait later on.

is it tiny? i have some tiny blue mg's

Baton Rouge area, LA(Zone 8b)

Which one?

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

the blue blizzard

Baton Rouge area, LA(Zone 8b)

The last two pictures are a small flower type ipomoea nil about 2-3 inch blooms on long vines. The size of blooms is influenced by growing conditions and the flowers on the ends of a vine will be smaller than the ones closest to the main vine. If you trim off some of the sprawling vines it will encourage more branching and the blooms will be larger.

thank you

WOW that's a nice blizzard!!!

It looks like Kikyo Ice can have "moods" with the shadings like one of the original youjiro parents I used to get this one.

Thanks. I wonder if the pink blizzard is Hanafubuki or Hanahubuki? Whether or not it has a name it has plenty of eye candy appeal. :)

I looked around in plant files and I think I have Hanahubuki.
