June flowers

(Zone 1)

Hi ya Brenda. I hadn't heard that Snowrose gave away a hoya because she didn't like the smell. I know the first time this ds-70 bloomed I did not like it at all ... smelled kinda musty so I put it outside! The fragrance must have grown on me because now I like it! My favorite fragrant one so far is still Lacunosa. I also have H. nummularioides that smells really nice. Can't wait for some of my small ones to grow up and bloom and hopefully have nice fragrance!

Is DS-70 a sp. novae? or some other code name to get around Homeland Security?

I'm not the best at taking pictures but I found the Speckled Leaf lacunosa blooming again:

Now that shepherdii is really nice! I have a small one I got in a house plant trade last fall. I look forward to mine growing up and blooming!

You have such big full plants Lin, so pretty, love the speckled leaf lacunosa!

Your macro shots are perfect ricfl! I have a hoya kerrii that is sending out tons of growth and has about a dozen new peduncles .... but so far no flowers forming. Your pictures make it harder to wait for them. ^_^

My first hoya plant was given to me about 18 months ago by my aunt. She started this plant from my grandmothers 40 year old plant . It's a basic green carnosa and it just opened it's first bloom ever ....... and there are more to come! I'm so pleased!

I got this cutting 2 years ago as pubicalyx "Dapple Grey" but it looks like "Pink Silver" to me. What do you think?
The plant.

Flowers for the comparison. "Pink Silver" on the right.

There is a clone of the 'Pink Silver' (I am sure there are many) with heavy flecking.... Marcy has RHP with heavy flecking....I would say the two flowers are probably the same... With the pubicalyxes it is hard to tell as they are so 'inbred'..... :)

I am so jealous. The only hoya blooming here is Obovata. I think I may need to give my hoyas a little more sun. Thanks for the picture of mindorensis. I just got this one today and your photo has got me excited about future blooms.

Everyone's blooms are just so pretty!! Here is my krinkle 8.

Hey, Awanda....I think your information about the mix that you use and the other information would be really interesting on that thread I started....I thought it would be a good place to consolidate great information from other growers so that others could 'match' conditions and get help. How about it?

Cape Coral, FL(Zone 10a)

Weeding, you are welcome. I also enjoy looking at the other peoples photos very much.

I just noticed my pachyclada is closing it's flowers as it is getting ready to fall off. It looks just like the buds just befoe it opened. Strange!

My H. obovata...I used to think of this as a low-brow hoya, all too common, but the flowers are really quite beautiful:

My mathilde is also at it again, love the minty-green flowers:

a new one for me, H. heuschkeliana - it really does smell like butterscotch! (altho I asked my husband what it smelled like, sure it was a dead ringer, and he said "hotdogs.")

And this one, though it hasn't bloomed yet, I'm VERY excited about: H. onychoides - another first. Wonder how long it'll take to finish budding up and open?

Wow, my heuschkeliana is darker than others...nice flower show, Awanda!

Beautiful flowers everyone. This flower looks like Pink silver but has no smell to it. It is in my "Red Button" pot but I know it isn't "Red Button", what is it? the leaves look more like carnosa.

Wow!!! Everyone's Hoyas are very beautiful!! I guess the summer is being good to them.
The mindorensis really caught my attention!
Carol -- So you don't think Paula is rude for not replying; she is in Mexico for a few weeks right now. She said she would have to go to a Cafe to get on-line and it may not be very often.

Getting to cafe's, hooking up...big chore...especially surrounded by family who always have other things to do. No worries..... Everyone's flowers ARE wonderful!

Took some time off from packing / moving and uploaded the photos from my camera. Here are some of them!
