We came from here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/853116/
Since it's almost June, and the other thread was getting too long for those with slower connections, I thought I'd start us a new thread.
My Rudbeckia Hirta is really starting to blossom out. Such happy flowers!
June Blooms (Starting May 30th)
Pattie - I have to laugh about your Coneflowers! Please forgive me. I need to thin my seedlings out or they will soon be taking over my flowerbeds!! :-)
I got a Raspberry Wine Monarda from Sheila at the Wax. RU. I hope it looks like your NOID -- that is a real beauty. Love your sun periennial bed, too.
Stephanie, how long do the Rudbeckia bloom? Are they lovely all summer long?
Carla
Hi Everyone -- I've been lurking for awhile and have only recently posted on another thread. It's been fun and educational to read all your posts!
Here are my first Texas Bluebells (Lisianthus, Prairie Gentian). Don't know the cultivar. I picked up two 9-packs from a flower farm early in the spring and they were only identified as Rose and Blue. For a couple months after I put them in the ground I swear I had mistakenly planted plastic greenery because they looked absolutely the same every single day. Finally they started to grow taller and develop buds and (woo hoo!) bloomed.
Welcome Julie! Awsome blossoms!
LOL! Yes, Carla, remember that I started with just two plants!
Carla, I'm not sure how long the rudbeckia blooms. It's my first summer growing them. Maybe someone else will come along and have more info for us both.
Stephanie
Last year, my Rudbeckia bloomed well from mid spring to mid summer and kindly teetered out around the first of August, but that was my first year with them and a mild year at that.
Thanks, Broncbuster!
First year, our Rudbeckia's looked fabulous. Second and third year they did okay but something really attacked them, maybe slugs. This year the foliage is looking great and I'm waiting for blooms (maybe next week?) Since they're right at the edge of our pond, I have to be very careful with any pest treatment.
Stephanie, yours look really nice.
Thanks, Texas Lizzy!
Prankster is pretty. Is "hem" short for hemerocalles? I'm slowly learning all the names of things.
I have had lisianthus for three years and just realized they didn't come back this year. Some of my favorites. So many favorites. Love all of the pictures.

Pod, I have to say, there are worse things than having a ton of coneflowers. I saw your photo of your bed, so I guess you know that too--LOL!
Can hardly wait. Every single, solitary seed of coneflower that Pod sent to me has germinated. Shared the seedlings with 2-3 other people because they were so full in the garden. They are about 4-6 inches now so guess there will blooms anytime. Thank you, Kristi. Know I will have these for years to come.

I long for some coneflowers!! Need to get some for my garden.
stephanie, don't think the seedlings would survive in the mail. I am all of 30 minutes from Ft. Worth. If you are interested, just d-mail and I will give you directions.
Christi
Actually I just mailed some to Maryland, and they are making it in their new home. They don't much like to be dug up, but if you give them a week or so in a little pot, they'll recover and then transplant fine. The mail itself doesn't seem to bother them.
