pathway / walkways

Fairborn, OH

I've created a garden, and need lay something down between the rows that won't be as permanent as something like stone or gravel. Though strong enough to walk on as I work in the garden. I don't expect anyone other than myself walking on it.

I setup a row of landscape fabric with the mulch on top of it, which has worked out so far, but the cost of rubber mulch is expensive and I'm not fond of having to replenish organic mulches every year. Also, I've noticed that if I have to drag a hose across it, the mulch gets pushed around.

I am wondering if anyone has used this product before, it looks promising for what I want to use it for, but their picture looks a lot like a tarp from a retail home improvement store. Any advice?

Do you like the natural look? Go out to a creek somewhere nearby and get some of the larger creek roks--They are pretty flat, and you can get them as big as 12-15 inches long and wide. THen get some smaller ones to place intermittently between and around the large ones. Now you can cover the rest with the rubber mulch, and it doesn't take near as much, so it is alot less expensive, and the look is really good and natural (especially if you get the brown mulch)

It looks like a tarp runner.

I like stones for paths. Smooth stones like river rock would work well, and keep your feet feeling good compared to shaper stones.

I've used bagged rocks for paths and water drainage issues. I have a terraced yard and need carry anything I use down it. I usually buy bagged mulch, rocks and such for that area of my yard. Bags of rocks are approx. 10 for $40-50 and go far.

I'm with AmyDawn's idea. That would look nice and be more cost effective. It seems the rubber mulch would stay in place better too.
