Help!! My Plants Are Going To Seed

Drain, OR

I just planted my first vegetable garden and some of my plants have gone to seed. My baby Bok Choi was planted from seeds and my Broccoli are plants I purchased. Why would they go to seed so soon?

I just signed up on this website and I'm looking forward to getting and sharing information on my vegetable and flower gardens.

Just pinch them off. Keeps them in the cycle. When they go to seed its the end of a cycle for a plant.
hope it helps

Purchasing brassicas like broccoli, cauliflower, etc. is tricky because if the seedlings get rootbound, the plant may shift gears into reproducing, rather than setting a good crown.

I am giving brassicas another shot this fall and will be starting from seeds. I do have a fluorescent light setup (the bulbs will be 1-2 inches max away from the tops of the leaves, there's no risk of burning the leaves).

Thanks for the feedback and the welcome everyone! It was very helpful. I'll pinch all the flowers off tomorrow morning. This site is great. Have a wonderful Memorial Day everyone. I'll keep you posted.

Let us know how it goes :)
