Clementius on the support beam or something else thats climbs would be nice. i would put some plants on this side of the walkway to hide the concrete. nothing too big that will hide the boxwoods. I would mix some grasses and some lights a long the way too.

I took some liberties with your photo. You could plant an ornamental tree and put a trellis in the raised bed to add some height to that part of the house. Try some Wave petunias in the raised bed also or something colorful that would drape over the wall. The wall could use some depth. Plus allanme79's suggestion of a vine on the wrought iron support and plants to soften up the sidewalk.

i love, love, love the trellis and the tree. i have been trying to talk my husband into getting a tree, but he doesnt want to take away from the kids playing area. but a tree there really wouldnt be in the way. and i do have a vine growing up the support beam. it is a cyress vine. thank you so much for the ideas. im excited!!! =)

Your welcome. Purple Wave petunias in the raised bed will really be showy.

i was thinking that, but i will have to wait until next year, because that one is full this summer. i have the purple wave petunias all over in the back yard. i have 4 hanging baskets around my gazebo. i love them. but i didnt discover them till late spring and i had already done the begonias, petunias, and sweet potato vine. but i will definately do it next year. thank you so much.

so i got the trellis. and its not as big as the one pastime put on that diagram, but there it is. the other one was a bit more than my hubby was willing to spend. anywho....i got a clematis vine. i hope it does good, im thinking from what i have read that clematis' are kinda hard to grow?

I don't think they're hard to grow, but they can be confusing sometimes because there are several different types and they have different pruning requirements. I don't grow them so I don't know which one is in which pruning group, but it would probably be worth starting a thread for yours and ask if anyone knows which pruning group it's in so that you can make sure you're pruning it at the proper time (you'll have to know the name of it in order for people to help you--hopefully it came labeled with a name other than just Clematis)
