growing stuff

Port Saint Lucie, FL(Zone 9b)

i live in south florida and recently added vegetables to my growing habits. is it just me or can i grow anything here as long as its heat tolerant? ive noticed my corn is starting to flower and its only about two or three feet tall. is this an anomaly due to zone difference?
everything else is growing at unbelievable rates.

Could be the cultivar, lots of corn (especially early types) have very small plants. Corn is not especially heat tolerant, but you should be ok now. Your choices will be somewhat limited in July and August. Lima beans, southern peas, okra, and sweet potatoes can handle deep south summers.

you know I live on the other coast of FL and I have the same things going on. In about November... october somewhere in there you can do radishes, spinach, cabbage, lettuce, tomatos, all that fun stuff. right now, (June July Early August, late may) do the hot stuff, peppers, okra like farmer dill said. and my corn is still doing well so we'll see how that goes with the heat. other than that we are blessed with a fairly continuous growing season. (and the plants luv it) :)

hey farmer dill, do you know if we can do stuff like brocolli and asparagus down here?

Augusta, GA(Zone 8a)

Broccoli at least, I don't know about asparagus but I would suspect that you can. Broccoli is grown commercially in Florida. South Florida in the winter, North Florida about the same as I do it Late fall and a second crop in mid spring. http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/pdffiles/CV/CV12200.pdf

is it possible that i can get my peppers and eggplants and such to flower and bloom all year here?

Venice, FL

mine do, the plant may not last and produce all year, but as soon as mine kick the bucket I yank them out, throw them in the pit my boyfriend made in the backyard (moral of the story... boy+ bobcat tractor=big hole) and plant new ones.
