Wax Myrtle dying?

Pinellas, FL

I never had a wax myrtle before so i dont know if this is die back from summer heat stress, or that fatal fungus Fusarium wilt, what do you guys think?

I've had around 10 wax myrtles for the past year. They haven't displayed die back like that in summer or winter. I think you have a problem with your bush.

I don't think it looks like normal dieback either. At least from your picture, it looks like it's just one branch that's affected, if I'm seeing things correctly then you might check and see if that branch got bent/broken somewhere down around the base (or chewed on). Often when I've spotted one dead looking branch on a plant I investigate and it turns out I broke it off when I was weeding or something like that. But if the branch isn't broken or if you're seeing this start on other branches too then it's more likely a disease of some sort.

i was kind of hoping i was over reacting, but now i guess it might the Fusarium wilt that has been affecting myrtles in central florida, thanks anyways:(
