Fast (& Low) Growing Ground Cover

I have a steep sloping hill in front of my house that is full of weeds... and now...fast spreading 7 foot long briars (if they produced berries it'd be another story, I might consider keeping them...lol...). I need a fast, but low, growing ground cover that will spread quickly and should it flower, that'd be even better. Any suggestions?
