In the contract, Bill?
Spring Blooms - Part 10
I always wondered about buying a house for the gardens and then having them taken away...
some of the favorite houses we looked at were favorite d/t the gardens.
I just moved and could not take the plants.
Although some of the iris here in the new house are gone.
The gardner had a passion for pastel cottage garden plants, not my taste so no loss.
if it is in the ground it is suppose to stay unless noted in writing. if we ever move there will be a several pages of plants and rocks that will travel.
several pages!!
Rocks??
My brother in law operates a crane and does bridge repair work, etc. There is a woman who asked if he could move a very large boulder from her yard to use it as her headstone .
How big is her head??
heehee
Now that's thinking ahead!!
a-head
Wow - beautiful, Allison! Which is it?
Your Blue Iris made me swoon Allison!! Beautiful!!!!!!!
thank you... going to be diving this year
:)
road trip to NJ?
My DD is actually there visiting right now.....LOL She and her BF went to the Mets game at Shea (sp?) Stadium today.
Too bad - they're losing!
well that blue iris came from a collection from spring hill.... but it doesn't match the photos or descriptions i have
• Twice Thrilling... Flamingo pink flowers with a touch of peach have a tangerine beard whose purple ends arch upward like horns. Grows up to 36" tall.
• Everything Plus... Plant these 30" beauties in the front of your Iris bed. Pristine white light ruffled falls, overlaid with deep violet plicata markings.
• Summer Olympics... Charming ruffles accent this unique, lime-yellow flower with white centers around its beard. Exceptional bloom habit for this 32" bitone stunner.
• Fiction... Vigorous 33" charmer has large 6 1/2" flowers with creamy yellow standards highlighted by hints of pale violet to rose-lavender. White falls with light lemon beard.
• Caribbean Dream... Famous for an abundance of heavily ruffled blooms...as many as 9 per 36" stalk. Thrives wonderfully in full to partial sun.
• Plus a FREE Disco Music... A captivating blend of pink, orange and amber hues, with a bright tangerine-red beard. Grows 35" tall with lightly ruffled falls.
will go look at the tag tomorrow
Victor, do we have the same Iris? It looks pretty similar, but not quite so.
Bill, I really like the "house" clematis. Believe me, there will be contracts on many plants when I move.
Onewish, how old is your rhody??? It actually looks as though it's older than the house!
Finally, it blooms again! Rhody ponticum variegatum. A couple of years ago I accidentally took of the back side of the rhody when I took down a dying tree. The tree went right where I wanted it to and missed every plant!!! Just wish I could say the same for it's branches. On my "to do" list is training some branches over that way.
don't know how old the rodie is RC.... it came with the house
I am a hurting pup today... everything is sore... don't want to go to work
:(
Nice water shot, Shelly.
thanks! I hope thaat it all goes away soon onewish, but it sounds like a very productive day!
RedChic or Shelly - nice pics.
Victor - yes rocks. I have large boulders on most of my beds that I have man-handled into place. One is a giant white quartz shaped like an egg that I took from the woods behind my home - rolled downhill to the edge of the pond - rolled into a canoe - had to get a pull along to get the canoe out of the pond - and rolled it on my hands and knees uphill to my front yard (there were some handy hand holds - wife thought I was nuts). Then there are 5 large flat stones I have "found" that are used for stone benches. I could go on and on. Love rocks.
i have one more bed to add soil too so my lilac's can grow then I start on a 100 ft. rock wall which will be photo documented.
I nearly wet myself imagening the rolling in the canoe and the pull along to extract same.
Puts me in mind of when I had to install a 3" blackpipe for a gas line to my garage from the meter in the front of the house.pipe was fifteen fet long, needed two to reach the back wall of the basement, had a boyscout help thread the two pieces together and carry said into the basement.
Got it down there and realized the threaded end to attach to the meter was the wrong end, had to carry it upstairs again and turn 30 feet around on a lot 40' wide and go into the basement and finish the job.
Talk about a Stan and Ollie routine.
my wife had just got home - looked way down back - saw my on my hands and knees - and just said "what are you doing?!?! Understand that process I mentioned took a few weeks. the come along pulled teh caneo out of the water in 1/4 intervals - i broke two come - alongs in teh process. rock was heavy. it only took me 10 minutes to roll up the yard. I was surprised and my wife even more.
you can see said stone in the background to the left. It has a lot of character up close.
