I live in west central N.M. at 7000 ft. elevation, zone 5 and 6. Im looking for the fastest growing shade tree i can find. I think maybe "Hybrid Poplar" would be good?
Also was wondering what, if any, roses (climbing or regular), would grow here?
Also was thinking of a Jackmanii Clematis or some type of flowering vine to grow on my fence.
The summers here are up in the 90's and the winters can get down to -20 with wind chill.
Any help and info would be "MUCH" appreciated as i am fairly new to trying to grow anything. Thanks
Need advice for growing in west central New Mexico at 7000ft
High Country Gardens is a great mail order nursery that would have plants that should do well for you. They are in a warmer area than you are so some of their plants may not be hardy in your zone but I'm sure they have some that are. And pretty much everything they sell has low water needs and does well in dry western climates. www.highcountrygardens.com They don't have too much in the way of trees though so you may have to look elsewhere for that. Your best bet on the tree will be to find one that's native to your area, that way you know it likes your heat/cold and level of rainfall, etc.
Thanks very much for your help and advice !
