I have a hibiscus that is dropping it's leaves and new buds. The buds are still firm and of good color but they just drop off. They are not wilty in any way. Also the leaves start getting mottled and turn light green and then completely yellow. After that the leaf falls off the plant. They are still nice and firm, not droopy or anything. My hibiscus is really thinning out now because of this and I don't know why it's happening. I have it in full sun right now. Should I move it into half sun or very light shade while it battles whatever is causing this? Anybody have any clues why this might be happening? Does it sound like a fungus or could it be a watering thing?
Hibiscus troubles
Did you repot it recently or change its location? Hibiscus are a little temperamental sometimes and when they're subjected to stress from repotting, moving, etc they will do that. Mine also tend to do it in hot weather when I'm watering them a lot, I think the drying out/frequent watering cycle stresses them a bit too. Assuming you're not overwatering it it'll recover, just give it some time. If your weather's still really hot though it might be happier with a little more shade.
