Any suggestions, I have read to chill the seed. Any other tricks?
Direct seeding Larkspur
OK, dale what is in your picture?
the ones I grow look very similar to Delphiniums, they are poisonous and all parts of the plant are so be careful if you have kids, they are lovely plants though and like most parents, you teach the kids not to touch or eat any flowers in the garden, as you are in a cool area, I would either scatter the seeds as said before or sew them into a pot of compost and sit this in a sheltered area out doors, the seeds are very fine, like sand grains, so dont cover them and once germinated, prick them out and pot them on for another few weeks till they are large enough to set outside, they are hungry feeders so add some feed to the garden soil at planting time, if you are sewing home grown seeds, the best results come from new collected seeds and sewn there and then as the winter weather chills the seeds for germination come spring. good luck.
