They are beautiful ducks, if you can get close enough for a good look.
DAILY PICS VOL. 109
Grasmussen, those ducks are GORGEOUS! I'm glad that you couldn't get closer because I just love the scenery and that wonderful blue water.
Wow, Gary - those are indeed beautiful ducks . . . and distant or not, great photos!
And if you had crossed over, the ducks would have swum across to the first side by the time you got there . . . ;-)
Oh my gosh Rose, you take the most awesome pictures! I just LOVE them! :-)
Edited to add, I don't see some of those birds here. Probably because I am in the woods and some of those like fields?
I am still watching for my Red Headed Woodpeckers. I haven't seen them yet this Spring. :-(

Nanny, I saw several RW blackbirds over the weekend. We were traveling in an area with a lot of catfish farms and wheat fields so these birds were sitting on the utility wires all up and down the highway. Never got a chance to take a pic though
Ms. Ed, I had the cervical fusion done several years ago. The 3rd day was the worst but it was all up hill from there. I was back at work in two weeks
dellarose, nice shot of the brown thrasher. I stalked one yesterday afternoon hoping to get a picture but it was not cooperative. I saw several flying loops over a pine grove and I could hear them singing so beautifully but everytime I got close they "lit a shuck"!
Wonderful shots everyone!!
Wow a hundred posts in 24 hours. How can I keep up.
First great head shot of the mallard, gras. They are common, but soooo handsome.
dellrose, better shot of the redhead? That is a great shot. Looks like it should be in my birdbook. Haven't seen one after the fleeting glance last week (first time)
Adel, 99.6'...didn't you just have snow a couple weeks ago?
I did see a humming bird yesterday. Only 42' outside. kind of cold, but I got my feeder out. Hope he comes back.
Great posts everyone!
Excellent photos everyone. There are so many beautiful birds it is hard to pick a favorite.
One of my favorite birds, however, is the Yellow-breasted Chat. For several weeks I have heard this unique voice in the meadows but unable to see him. This weekend, I finally caught a quick glimpse, and photo, of one some distance away.. Once you hear their call you won't forget it.
Linth, great photos (as always)! And that Yellow Breasted Chat is darling - love the photo of him on the branch . . . great photography.
All these great photos are inspiring me to learn my camera better. So I offer you all a rare glimpse of a ... pigeon!
These band-tailed pigeons migrate to a nearby field near the water, but they decided to hang around my place this year. I was very surprised to see them as I've never seen a pigeon here in town before.
