How long does it take for bush green beans to produce beans; zucchini to produce zucchini; strawberries/berries; crowder peas/peas; and tomato plants/tomatoes?
I am beginning to feel like I need to just pull everything up. The only thing I have managed to "grow" and harvest is lettuce!
Sad,
Ally
My plants are not producing
I am futher south than you are. My snap beans and zucchini will began producing in June. Crowder peas in July. Tomatoes, late June. Strawberries typically began producing the second year, June bearers in late April- early May, Everbearers whenever they feel like it. At this stage of the game, I have harvested only lettuce, spinach, radishes, and English peas. I quit growing strawberries 10 years ago.
I needed to update my info. I have moved (with container garden) to Melbourne, FL. I don't even know what zone I am in anymore. The zucchini are still in Kennesaw and so are the potatoes. We are leaving then until the final move since the container is attached to our deck.
If I sen pictures, would you look at them and tell me if they look "ok?" The tomato plants have brown leaves. Should I cut those leaves off?
The onion sets have sprouted green onion like tops but are not real onions yet.

Oh, thank you for responding.
When did you plant these things? Try to remember not only do those seeds have to germinate, the plants need time to grow big enough to produce fruit for you to harvest. Deep breaths and patience, honey. They will come!
The green beans I planted on March18th and everything else sometime after. I did mark it on a calendar, but thought it was like 45 or 90 days to harvest? I have two choices: Wait and Pull. I will wait and can always pull later.
When is the latest I can re-plant green beans and peas?
Thank you!
All of the things you have moved to central Florida will speed up. Next year you should be able to plant a month to six week earlier than yo could in Kennesaw and subsequently harvest that much sooner. You need to check with your extension agent for planting times. Southern peas like heat, so you can plant them anytime. It is too hot for snap beans here in July and August, so I just made my last planting and will wait until the middle of August to plant a fall crop.
If the tomatoes have brown leaves( ie dried up) it is ok to remove them. probably stress from the move. Keep a wary eye for insects, especially white flies which are a problem in much of Florida.
Set onions are probably never going to make large onions. As green onions use as needed, I start when they have pencil size stems and continue using till the tops fall over. If in future years you want large mature onions, get short day plants and set in November-December.
Thank you so much ....
