there was no care instructions included. My flower buds are falling off, before opening. Please help,I know nothing about this type of plant!
I received a Mandella plant as a gift .
Do you mean Mandevilla? Also, can you post a picture or else tell us a little more about where you have it (indoors? outdoors? Sun? Shade?) and how you've been watering it. And is there anything with the leaves, like wilting or yellowing or falling off, or is it just the buds?
Here are some pictures of mandevilla so you can see if that's what you have or not http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/adv_search.php?searcher%5Bcommon%5D=&searcher%5Bfamily%5D=&searcher%5Bgenus%5D=mandevilla&searcher%5Bspecies%5D=&searcher%5Bcultivar%5D=&searcher%5Bhybridizer%5D=&search_prefs%5Bblank_cultivar%5D=&search_prefs%5Bsort_by%5D=rating&images_prefs=both&Search=Search
by the pictures it looks like it may be a dipladenia `red sun'. The leaves look similar to a gardenia leaf. It's in a pot with a bamboo trellis behind it. I have it in my kitchen where it gets partial sunlight. Some of the leaves have fallen off, but I don't know if that happened before I got it or not. as I said, my daughter gave it to me on Mother's Day, with no care instructions attached & I've never seen this type of plant before. The only reason I know what it's called is because it has a name and barcode sticker on the side of the pot. I have a room that gets more sun, so I'll try putting it in there. It was dry soil when I got it, so I watered it and set it in a drain bowl. Any help is welcomed. It probably came from a roadside flower stand, like they set up for the holidays, and my local florist knows nothing about Mandevilla plants. HELP PLEASE!!!!!
If it is a mandevilla put it in the sun gradually so it doesn't get sunburned.I typically grow them outside as annuals.I've had limited success wintering them over indoors.Full sun and it will grow quickly and reward you with many blooms.

With some leaves dropping and buds dropping off, my first suspect would be a watering issue, possibly too little water, but honestly overwatering is a much more frequent mistake, so that would be my first suspect. Try sticking your finger a few inches down into the soil and see how wet it feels, if it feel sopping wet then I'd probably repot it into some drier soil. The drain bowl that you put it in could also be causing problems...after you water you need to let the excess water drain through and then empty it right away, otherwise the plant is going to be sitting in water and most plants don't like that.
