Hi
My Armandii is just over a year old & flowered well but I have noticed that several of the leaves are starting to go brown & crisp,It starts at the tip & spreads to the whole of the leaf,it's still growing healthy looking shoots
Can anyone tell me what's wrong
Thanx
What's wrong with my Armandii?
Could you post a picture of the problem? I'm assuming you're referring to a Clematis armandii and they can have several problems from sunburn to leafspots that can affect the foliage. A picture would make things much clearer.
I've seen damage like that on ones here at the nursery before but it was difficult to determine exactly what caused it. Among my theories were sunburn, windburn, cold damage or a combination. Has the plant endured excessive sun, wind or cold recently? It doesn't look like a fungal problem (at least not in those pictures). The other good news is, C. armandii isn't usually affected by the dreaded Clematis wilt so I think we can rule that out. As long as it doesn't seem to be getting progressively worse I wouldn't do anything to it. It should push out some new growth soon and eventually look fine.
Hi Plantfreak
Thanx for that, yes we have had some very cold winds snow even last month & new growths are already coming
Thanx again
It's already been fairly hot this year where I live so I didn't even consider that you might have had snow recently! I'm just glad that you'll be able to rest easy now knowing that your plant will be fine. :)
