What's happening in your neighborhood today...pt3

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thought it might be time (thanks to Sydney) that I start a new thread, forget from time to time that some are on dial up....

Know it's almost 2pm, boys and family have all left and this mom is tired out..got ALL my projects on 'to do' list done, lol, maybe that's because I said they couldn't start uncovering the "Foxy Lady" until chores were done..think they are hoping for warm weather for the long weekend..so, in no time at all my 3 trees out front were set in, the old gazebo metal structure that fell last year was made into 2 arbors which were installed on both ends of a treed area which is my secret garden..do have a nice arbour in front, but thought once the shrubs and trees grow, it truly will be hidden, can't waste the metal right..my boys seem to think that yes, these pieces could go out in the garbage..not on your life..lol.., then poles cemented in for an 8' fence piece that I'll attach lattice to..hopefully it will hide part of the neighbors eye sore..(now to find quick growing vines) !

I tried my hand at a B&B last year and truly enjoyed it, so I'm organizing myself to properly run one part time this summer to take the hotels/other are B & B's overflow so Bernice across the road who ran 'Beyond the Garden Gate' B&B and found it too much at her age and health issues, gave me her sign..so the boys dug holes and cemented the sign which needs upkeep..they so wanted me to wait until the white "mom" won and it's now up..

Greg is gone home to work on his pool, Jeff left to go dirtbiking and then back to the city and Greg will pick up the Foxy Lady and take it in for spring servicing for me....so it's been quite a day..actually quite a weekend..I've so enjoyed it..oops..forgot to mention I got the 3 tries, gift certificate for local nursery and a water feature for front deck....will show you a picture once it's out of the box and in operation..right now, it's off for a warm bath, temps are dropping and guess I'm tired as now I've the chills..now I can enjoy my aft. and evening on my own, feet up and resting..well not quite..

Do hope you all are enjoying your day!

It's a nice sunny day but cool. Dog's not feelin' so hot so stayin' near him. Was going to go to UBC Botanical Garden plant sale but after reading the lists of plants, nothing stood out at me. Just watering the garden as it gets super dry there. It's laundry day.

Hi :-)

Believe it or else .. we had a 'moment of snow' around 2pm !! It's remaining cool .. but the rain has stopped ..

OH Betty .. your pond are looks AWESOME .. the lighthouse looks amazing :-) Am glad your boys did your bidding and left you happy.
My DS is working midnites .. will likely just hear from him .. he works as a traffic controller for CPR

My NEW lawn furniture is wet .. but that's OK as I went with the 'mesh' stuff instead of cushioned chairs .. have some of those that are being held hostage in the back shed as the Fly Catchers were faster than we were .. am thinking Mom is sitting on the nest and I surely do NOT want to disturb her ... trouble is .. there's lotsa stuff I NEED in that shed !! Anyone have words of wisdom for me ?? Do I go in now before the eggs hatch ?

Awwwww growin .. hope yer pooch feels better soon .. such a worry having a sick pet :-( The NON verbal clues can make ya crazy !!

Ahhhhhh yes .. dial up !! Gosh .. I can still remember the minutes ticking by as I downloaded a wave file .. nerve rattling to be sure ..

Off to cook din din

Ciao

Almost time for bed..I've napped off and on all afternoon..just zonked..Noah and Kyle dropped (grandsons 12 and 10) with lovely bouquet of flowers and a card that touched my heart..so the end of a perfect day..

Snow? OMG will it ever end...
Growin, do hope your pet is on the mend..

Storm is brewing, can feel it in the air, can hear far away rumble so won't be long and it will be on our doorstep..Sailor (Border Collie) goes absolutely freeky, she's mighty big to be sleeping on the bed with 2 cats...

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Mornin all :-)

Seems Thunder Bay has awakened to a 'fair day' .. the clouds have gone and we have a bit'o sun .. if you believe the predictions of the myriads of weather mongers .. well .. we could be warm or cold .. rain or no rain LoL in other words .. weather prediction can be a rather INEXACT science :-) I tend to think we'll be chilly but dry.

Just waiting for Lilly to open her wee eyes so we can shlep down to get the paper .. Westies are NOT early risers !!!

Another day for DH and myself to go looking at countertops/sinks .. I have talked myself OUT of granite :-) I decided that it was probably best to put something like granite into a brand spankin new house .. so .. now that I have AGAIN changed my mind .. we're off to the races .. good way to spend our 36th wedding Anniversary (I was a child bride hahahah)

As well .. nutbar that I am at times ... I decided to have a HUGE BDay party here June 14 .. so .. have to get some invites today as I don't have everyones email addresses .. DH will be 60 on July 6 and my bud 50 on Aug 17 .. the reason for the early celebration is due to the fact that my buds folks will be here visiting from King City ON .. and I want them to be able to share in her BDay celebration .. it'll just be a "come and go' typa deal .. cake and a beverage and fellowship .. kick off to the summer :-)

I can hear Lilly fussing to be taken off the bed .. ONWARDS :-)

Enjoy

"M" I did a Nov.27th birthday party on the long weekend of July..was indeed a glorious sunshine day..and 'he' was surprised..my concern was bad weather in Nov. and this was so much more fun..am thinking of doing something for my eldest son - his 40th on January 1st..difficult time to try and do a big celebration and it's also the anniversary of his fathers' death..so that memory always comes back..

It's overcast, 50 and looks as thought we'll have a day of rain..let's hope we get it all over before the long weekend..

Good luck with your kitchen counter search and 'Happy Anniversary'

Victoria, BC(Zone 8b)

Finally, we have a day of sun, and best of all no wind. Those of you that have been here know that it's always got at least a bit of wind blowing.

We had phone calls form 3 of the kids that are away (New Zealand, Montreal, Vancouver) and dinner with the youngest that's still in town. It was good, relaxing, and we did takeout so no cooking for us.

Nice pond Betty, well worth the hard work.

Growin, how's your 4 legged buddy? It just pulls at the heart when our pets aren't themselves

I agree about having a birthday from the winter moved to the summer. Next year at the end of Dec is my 50th and at that time will be a challenge for a party with everything else that's going on. I have'nt changed the celebration date before.

Tomorrow will be a big day for my sister (& I). To make a long story short, Karen was very recently Dx with uterine cancer and within 2 weeks had a full hysterectomy. I go with her Tuesday for her first appointment with the oncologist to hear about pathology, what was found at surgery, and what the treatment plan is to be. My sister is 54 and alone, so she asked me to join her on this visit, I've offered to be there for every visit, treatment, be an advocate for her and wipe her brow and other areas as needed during treatment. We had a few years where we didn't really speak but as we are the only siblings, neither of us wanted to grow old with out having a friendship with the other. So now for the last 3-4 years we're friends again.

On another note, I lost 90+% of my brug collection over the winter. :( I have a sanguinia blooming and one other with a smudged label putting out some leaves.

A good day to all is wished to you,

Linda

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sending prayers Linda for you sister and of course for you..stressful to see someone you love deal with cancer..lost my DH at the age of 47 to liver cancer..she's lucky to have you standing by giving support and encouraging her...we'll all be thinking of you both...

Perhaps you should think of having a summer or fall celebration...if someone is planning it for you perhaps a few hints about this time of year would help..lol..

Sorry you lost some of your plants..most likely favorites right?

As for my pond, I think I cleaned it out much too early this year, didn't think things our clearly when I started digging it out (with my two little hands - shovel as well) lol because I put it under 2 trees..looks pretty but I noticed on the weekend that there was a little skim of green on it and my water feature just wasn't as high as normal, so started to pump it out again yesterday aft. and by night had it 3/4 empty..my thoughts are to let most of it dry, try to sweep the green yuk out and refill...could have saved myself some trouble had I left it to late May..one will learn..lol

Linda, sorry about your sister, glad you're there for her. Hope she has a good prognosis.

when you're up this way, come by and I'll give you some brug cuttings. Mine are all doing pretty good.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Linda .. all the best with Karen and her journey .. both of your journeys, through this 'life hiccup. As Erma Bombeck would have said ..'sometimes life is NOT a bowl of cherries, you HAVE to deal with the pits'.

Got 15 invitations to 'the party' done .. ran out :-( off to Dollarma again tomorrow ..

Shopped for a Wedding shower gift today .. the bride (my best friends DIL to be, is registered at Home Outfitters) .. WELL .. I haven't bought a shower gift in quite a bit .. these new brides sure don't go CHEAP .. yikes .. I opted for a SEVENTY dollar shower curtain that also needed a $15. fabric liner to go with it .. ahh well ... AND .. I think I may start a thread for this .. the shower invite asks that we include a gardening tip in the card .. shew .. the only thing I can think of is .. don't spray ROUNDUP in the wind near blooming flowers and plants LoL .. does it sound like a personal experience :-)

DHs roto tiller is repaired .. a small adjustment .. but still it was a chore loading and unloading the beast here at home ..

Hmmmmmm .. your pond is a wonderful focal point Betty .. but I can see where it would be lotsa work .. I have 'pondered' a water feature several times but have always 'let it go' .. anywhere I chose to put it we seemed to have trees ...

Feeling pretty crummy about the folks in China .. not to mention the US midwest .. what a world .. and the Olympics on the way to boot !!!

Time to get supper on the go ..

Take care

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well got my pond filling, I'm off for a bath, guess who smells like a 'swamp lady'..maybe it's time I open up some of those bath gift baskets and treat myself..lol..

I don't mind 'M' the registration part it's when they say 'no gifts - money please' then I just don't go to the wedding...think it's not in the best of taste but then that's just me...

Do love to hear water...a must for me...not a lot of work..just something stupid I did so it taught me a lesson..lol...

Better get that bath before Dancing with the Stars comes on....

Edmonton, AB(Zone 3a)

Linda
Tough to hear about Karen, I will keep my fingers crossed for you both. I know where she's been and the best advice is ask ask ask questions so you have tons of knowledge as the unknown is the most stressfull.
The oncologists are amazing and the folks who work for them are too. My friends and family made a big difference for me so I know that having you, will do the same for Karen.

Hey 50 is the new 30 did you know? I had mine last year and I was spoiled by everyone! Jagonjune took me to England and my DH did a surprise party that was just the most fun ever.
Take care
Ann

Hi Canadian gardeners...I drop in here from time to time and read about your goings on but rarely chime in. But Linda, I am moved to say that I wish the very best to your sister, and take care of yourself too in your role as supporter. We do deal with some crazy challenges, but the really important things in life are family and health. I wish all of you the best of both. Theresa

Victoria Harbour, ON

Linda, sending prayers this early morning .. know it will be a difficult day for you both...

Weatherman is calling for the nicest day so far this year and guess who has to travel tot he city for work..now why couldn't it be tomorrow when I only work half a day..perhaps it will...

Just walked around the garden this morning and flowers are starting to bloom, of course they are early spring flowers and are gorgeous...

Girlfriend called last night to find out when the church plant sale is..last year we both bought tons of flowers..think I ended up with 30 large plants...must prepare a garden shortly for my newbies as it is the 1st Sat. in June..something to look forward to..

Must finish getting ready for work..gab later
Do all enjoy your day!

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Wanted to wish you luck today Linda, and as a nurse I do so encourage 'QUESTIONS' ..in fact .. the oncologist will be expecting a barage. NO question is a silly one .. laden with GOOD information makes Karen an informed consumer and patient, and someone who knows what to expect (even though that expectation can change daily sometimes)
My thoughts are with you both ..

Thunder Bay is looking a titch 'dreary' this morning .. rain is forecast for later morning and into the afternoon and evening .. at least it's not an earthquake or a tornado !!!

Re the Bridal Shower thingame .. guess when I got married I was registered at various stores .. but for WEDDING gifts .. Bridal showers were 'room themed' .. Kitchen Shower (I still have all the recipes I was given), Linen shower etc .. as always though .. the only SURE thing in life is CHANGE .. and my how things have .. I think this Bridal shower will be fun to go to so I can get a 'feel' for how Brides to be are handling this century with all the uncertainty in it. I do know that Heather, the bride, is committed to ecological balance ..

Betty .. I love water as well .. well what I mean is 'noisy water' :-) babbling brooks, rushing creeks, waves lapping onto the shore or crashing onto the rocks .. maybe I'll give the pond idea another chance ..

Have a splendiferous day everyone

Thinking of you and your sister and Cheryl today Linda, and praying for some calm in the midst of the storm for all of you.

Beautiful, BC(Zone 8b)

Linda - I wish both you and your sister well in the recovery. Although you've had your differences and seperation, getting through this is certainly a challenge but family comes first. Let me know if you come to this side of the water as I'm sure I can come up with some plants for you.

Yesterday I worked and it was a busy sunny day. Most people are talking how this season has been upside down for the landscapers & nurseries. Supposedly Friday is 30 degrees. I went to UBC Botanical Garden on Sunday - was tempted by the plant sale. Didn't buy anything as I'm terribly broke but had to go. Got some great pics for Plantfiles. Today I catch up with stuff at home.

Thumbnail by growin
Victoria Harbour, ON

Spectacular...broke or not I'd probably end up taking grocery money for plants..lol..you've got mind over matter for sure not to be tempted...lol

Think today they were calling for 22 - 24, it is warm so may have reached it however, the blue sky is starting the cloud over..possibly rain later this evening...

Must go out when I get home and take a few photo's of plants just opening, little spring flowers nothing quite as beautiful as the ones you've been showing, but for me anything that is not just green leaves is a thing of beauty...

This morning on my way to work I passed a rhubbarb patch where I know the farmer sells it, leaves looked big enough for me to do more rhubbarb cement leaves, so perhaps I can add yet another project on my to-do list for this long weekend.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Well things are warming up a bit here and predicted to be in mid 20s on the weekend.
My computor went to my IT guy on Saturday to have a new hard drive installed and back Sunday evening. Worked at Lougheed House Sunday afternoon - busy since it was Mothers Day and I did 4 1/2 tours in 4 hours - was glad to get home and off my feet. Yesterday was warm enough to do a bit of garden work in the morning and in the afternoon we had a tea party at the Reader Rock Garden put on by the administration and restaurant at Lougheed House for the volunteers - very nice, lots of goodies to eat! Didnt need supper!
Today with nothing on the books I was able to spend most of the day in the garden, got most of the general clean up done . Maybe I will be able to start planting all those plants in my back porch soon. Also got the rain chain fountain set up. Then suddenly this afternoon lost phone/internet service. Much to my surprise tech came out an hour or so later and eventually tracked down the problem and I was connected to the world again.
This week is Sheltie Nationals in Calgary and Alberta Sheltie Rescue has a fund raising booth there all week which I help organize. Set up tomorrow morning and I will be working all day Friday and Sunday . Plus a friend who has a dog in the show comes to stay tomorrow and Shadow the sheltie comes to stay from Thursday while his owners are on an Alaskan Cruise. Busy week!
Oh and the fences all got painted!
P>S> Betty - you got me all confused with those number 3's!

i think winter is back here, man its cold

Victoria, BC(Zone 8b)

You all are so wonderful and supportive. I kept thinking that many of you were there in spirit with us. To say the day was long is a bit of an understatement, however... there was mixed news, it could've been worse. We did have lots of questions, as an RN like ~M~ information is the Key! The appt with the radiation guys to get the plan of options is later nexk week. I've tried 3x to get the spelling right on 'nexk' must be too tired.

I'm always aware of trying to stay on the thread topic, so if there's more on my sister, I"ll start a new tread.

It was pissin rain today (I wonder if it'll pass the word censors) but the garden got a good soak and it topped up my pond. I've still got to get my dahlia tubers in the ground. The rhubard has already been in muffins and crumbles. The red winged black birds are eating us out of suet and seeds, as well as the downey wood peckers, red finches, sparrows and chickadee-dee-dees. Such lovely bird life. We live along the edge of a large farmers field that is a flood plane and part of it is in the agricultural land Reserve. (ARL) They used to farm corn, potatoes and carrots. Now the new owner is trucking loads and loads of dirt to build a 3m berm around the whole place for a blueberry farm. In the winter when the field floods it's part of an bird sancuary that has 40+ swans, >200 CDN geese, and >500 ducks of varius species. It's now before the courts to stop the berm building.

As for brides registering at ritzy stores, even sending out requests of what they would like, don't cut it with me. I will give them something that is from the heart, hopefully that will be meaningful for them. When I got married, it was 'gifts respectfully declined, your presence is all we desire.'

This coming weekend for us is supposed to be sunny and 25*C. I might wither up and die, these new sights, be still my heart. LOL

Linda
my apologies for the typos and phrasology slips, just ignore.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

YAWN!!! :-) Woke up breathing again .. first thing to be thankful for .. and .. NO SNOW on the ground!! Seriously, last night the furnace kept coming on and I was thinking 'OH OH'! Coming home from a meeting last evening it was lightly raining and air had that certain little 'nip' to it. Pretty dreary out there though.

The Finches are back in force .. not their BRILLIANT yellow yet .. but gradually getting there .. they are such a sweet bird .. they peck away at the Thistle feeders .. and the Junkos eat what they drop on the ground.

Glad yesterday went OK for you and your sis Linda .. lots to try and take in I know .. and even though I have been a nurse for what seems like eons .. sometimes when I am with a doc (especially a specialist) and they start spouting their particular 'lingo' .. I get lost .. some of them mean well .. but don't realize they are talking to patients, who, in all likelihood are facing their FIRST major illness .. and who have not got clue ONE as to most of the terminology.
As for the BERM .. jeez Louise !!! Sure hope that gets straightened out !!

Wooo hooo Fancy .. your temps are looking good for the weekend .. we're so so .. I can remember Pickeral fishing on the MAY 2 4 weekend .. casting and wiping snow offa my reel !!! At the time I was less than impressed .. but can smile now .. DH was laughing so hard because I NEVER went anywhere without mascara on .. and it was makin tracks down my cheeks .. thank the Lord there were NO digital cameras or cellphone cameras back then (or, as I recall, Pickeral either) LoL

Another day with a plate full of 'stuff' .. the countertop guy has to come and measure .. I chose a 'faux granite' top .. my bud says it reminds her of what a piece of banana loaf looks like when it's sliced .. I thought that a great analogy .. would be a loaf with lots clove and cinnamon in it :-) Still no word from the fencing company :-(
The last of the invites are hittin the snailmail .. now I just have to wait for RSVPs and pray for a nice day June 14 ( any backup greatly appreciated)

Gotta get a wiggle on .. Lilly is awake .. the paper awaits at the end of the driveway and I have to get DH up as I am designated driver for his 'drops in the eyes' Opthamologist appt this morning.

Have a great day

~M~

MG99....no off topic here, open to all and any conversation (provided it meets DG guidelines..lol)

Overcast here, 54 this morning coming into work..not calling for a nice weekend at all, but, that could change..lots of inside projects I could work on..

Fancyvan, heard this morning that all the stingrays died recently at your zoo...Toronto Zoo is quite concerned..they are opening their exhibit on Friday..how tragic for the zoo..think they are finding something wrong witht he water??? not sure..

'M' be positive that the weather will co-operate and just in case make some provisions...lol..you've a busy/busy day...

Diggin, sure hope weather starts improving temp. wise for you..are you able to get some gardening done???

Got home last night and decided to work out in the yard, got everything watered, some plants planted and a little bit of weeding done..then a lady 3 streets over came to ask about my topsy/turvey pots and how they were made and got into long conversation re gardening..did get an invite though, she has a blue hosta that I can come over and dig up..let's hope there are a few more plants she might share...she's incharge of the church bazaar plant sale which will be May31st...must mark that on my calendar...

Have a specialist appt. this aft. so will be leaving at 1..poor Wayne, everyone else in the office are off with that virus and now I have to leave early..lol..he'll manage..stopped off at the Canal Rd. Flower Wholesalers and picked up a beautiful bouquet of flowers..my aunt will be turning 88 tomorrow and I'm going to be within a block from her house this aft. so will drop in...

Must run..

Brought some painting to entertain myself today so off I go..

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Betty there are still 8 alive ( out of 39). Reports say water tests normal ( and it was always tested frequently plus a staff member always present during open hours .but the only thing they can find wrong is an irritation of the gills.

What are your topsy turvey pots?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Not sure if you can see the pots through the flowers, but I screwed (or you can solder) 3 copper fins on a piece of copper tubbing and approx 18" from the bottom of the 4' piece of pipe I screw in a 't' copper bracket then inserted it in a large/large flower pot and then purchase 3 large pots that the 1st one sits on that 't' bracket and the other 2 pots sit angled..looks lovely when the flowers are cascading...

Could show you step by step if you are interested..know some just stick a copper tubbing piece in the ground but it's not very stable...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Oh I thought that was maybe what you meant. I have instructions somewhere to make it using rebar I think.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Whoa .. neat pots Betty ..I have 'topsy turvy pots' here today .. but only because of the wind :-)

The 2 hour Opthamologist appt went as expected .. 10 minutes with the doc and the rest of the time waiting .. isn't that always the way .. DH has increased pressure in one of his eyes .. so it's being monitored frequently. As we only have TWO Opthamologists in TBay .. I want him to either go to Winnipeg or down to Wisconsin. His brother lives in WI and his wife is a Charge Nurse in the big medical centre there. Lots to think about .. hopefully our Family Physician can shed some light on all this .. bottomline is DH eye site .. not only is he a marksman (Canadian Champion) but an avid hunter so .. he's a tad worried which has a trickle down effect for me .. I'm sure it'll all turn out for the good .. but getting there is the hard part ..

Otherwise .. the weather has been cool .. took Lilly for a walk while we were in the city .. along a trail by a RUSHING creek .. several Fly Fishermen were trying their luck .. didn't see anyone with a fish though .. sure was a pretty trail to saunter along .. Lilly had lotsa NEW SNIFFS to suck up :-)

I bet your Aunt will love the flowers Betty and I so hope your visitor has LOTSA Blue Hosta .. it's soooooo pretty ..

Guess I should go and 'work a wonder with leftovers' :-)

Ciao

Fancyvan - they're now saying 5 more Stingrays have died, leaving only 3, so a total of 40 have now died..... Could be parasites apparently, cuz the gills were so pink.

There were supposed to be 10 more from FL coming this week, but for now they're holding off on that..........

Sun, Sun, Sun .. and .. WARMER temps for TBay this morning .. then this afternoon .. we're gonna spice it up a bit with a Thunderstorm ... keeps ya guessing.

The song birds and plain ordinary birds are in full throated warble and peep this morning .. i can imagine they get happy when they see me meander out the backdoor with Lilly AND their birdfeeders .. can't leave them out overnight because of bear and deer.

Am on with VCARS today and hoping it'll be quiet .. hope I haven't jinxed myself !!

Enjoy your day everyone

Blyth, ON(Zone 5b)

Sunny and warmer for here today too, but...danger of overnight frost *AGAIN*! Is anyone else getting tired of dragging tender seedlings in and out, in and out, 4 of every 7 nights? And the long range looks like just more of the same for the rest of the month. Grumble, grumble, moan, whine, grumble!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ginnylynn, feel the same, not so sure I'll pre start seeds next year..they are getting so leggy and I'll lose them either way...so this weekend, out they go...

It's sunny here in Toronto but when I left home this morning it was 40..as I watch the trees out my office window they are swaying from side to side..it's actually funny, I've the micro heater turned on, and my office is registering at 70 but it sure does not feel like it..wouldn't you know I didn't bring a sweater..

"M" what is VCARS...is it a group..you've probably mentioned it but I forgot..

Long weekend, what do you all have planned???

Calling for rain most of it so I've a zillion things I can get caught up with inside..would rather have had sunshine though..won't hurt me if what they predict changes...

Isn't it funny, when the call for sunshine, most times they are wrong and it rains, but when they call for rain, it actually RAINS...LOL

Did a walk-about outside this morning before leaving for work and took a few photo's..not much in the way of flowers but then the snow just left about 4 weeks ago, just peeping their heads above ground...but the greenery is beautiful in itself to look at...

I'll share a few photo's taken this morning..

Need a few more lilac trees to make this section of my hidden garden secluded..would have been except somebody got granch cutting happy when putting up my clothesline..yep..DS Greg, didn't realize that I'd be missing all those branches...lol

thought I bought a 'peony' with a flowers only to get home last night and plant it and realize they put a silk flower in the container so you know what color your plant would be dah..

I hear ya Ginny .. not many here in the NorthWest have put ANYTHING into the ground as of yet .. rule of thumb here is after the full moon in June .. however .. most of us push the envelope by the end of May .. which is why, if you are out in early morning .. you can see folks gardens covered with plastic of all sorts .. all the gardeners garages or sheds have rolls of the stuff ready to go .. and we usually always have several nights of that .. I feel for ya .. it's a task !!!

DH split wood today and is contemplating firing up the rototiller .. he has bought his seed potatoes and Dutch sets of onion .. they're ok to plant now ..
I seem to go ao nuts when I'm on call .. I did 3 loads of laundry and hung'em out .. did a 'Last of the leftovers casserole' .. will fer sure give myself an attitude adjustment before I buy a ham THAT big again !!! Have a tossed salad on the go and am desperately trying to help Gord identify a bird he saw in one of the Tamarac trees .. I have been scooting down to the front when he calls .. and as I approach the lil devil flits away .. it's ALMOST what we'd say is an American Gold FInch with 'backwards colours' ? Instead of a mostly Golden yellow breast and black wings .. this lil guy has a black breast with yellow wings ...
With global warming we are finding that NorthWestern Ont is becoming increasingly popular with species that tended to stay further south .. it's a real treat to something NEW :-)

I best get on with 'stuff' ..

Take care

Am I too structured, do you do same...if you plant something on the right side of the garden, you plant same on the left and so on and so on?

[HYPERLINK@www.tbayvictimservices.com] That's the link for VCARS .. basically if someone is in need after being victimized .. ie .. sexual assault, domestic violence, sudden death (accident) we go and help them figure out their next steps ..

Betty your 'gardens' all look awesome .. my bud , the landscaper, is pretty much into 'balance' .. as are you .. last year though .. she made us an awesome garden that was sort of 'helter skelter' .. it was wonderful :-) That's when I fell in love with Ornamental Millet :-)

The rain is starting to do it's 'pitter pat' thing .. time to get 'THE DISH' served up :-)
