Hey all, I got this crazy idea of using either wild yam (sweet potato) vine or virginia creeper in an elevated basket on my covered porch. I am rooting some ivy also. I have a lot of them in my woods, so it would be a CHEAP way out since I am on a tight budget. Has anyone tried these in containers? When they get long enough I am thinking they will drape nicely. There won't be any place for them to climb or root or spread...
I thought of this when I saw that someone had put mint in a pot and was selling it for $15 as a hanging basket. Why not use my "free" vines?
Use of "native / invasives" in containers...
Dearest Julie......I'd keep a gun trained on that Virginia creeper just in case it tried to escape.......:)

Too late, it is already out. But, if I I keep it close I can keep an eye on it. lol
A neighbor used the sweet potato vine and it looked nice with its heart-shaped leaves. I was just thinking the 5-pointed star shaped leaves of the Virginia Creeper might look cool, even when they turn red in the fall...and if / when they die, I have multitudes more in my woods....
