ok.... picture this time.
Spring Blooms - Part 8
pretty! pretty!
I love the daffodil amythest! It looks as though it's fragrant? I think the bush behind it is a flowering quince, maybe. Chaenomeles speciosa
well, it's creeping very well for a rescue plant!
Thank you! i didn't notice if the thalia was fragrant. They are supposed to be, but that is usually undesireable to me, so i put it somewhere i would be less likely to notice...
i think the bush - maybe it is a flowering quince, i don't know - has birds nesting in it? Is this possible? They sure get annoyed when i get too close...
The phlox was one of those $2.99 plants, pretty much because it was past bloom and had a bunch of dead bits. It stayed green all winter - i was astonished when it bloomed!
that's a great bargain to find! I have no idea if birds like quince or not. They're thick enough when older that it would be a good place to keep the little birdies well protected.
But do birds nest in bushes that are only like 3 or 4' tall?
I think that they will. But, I'm really just guessing! You might want to post that on one of the other animal oriented forums. Is there a bird forum? I have no idea!
Nice! I love how they are spaced and arranged. It's much more defined than... just a clump o' tulips.
i did them in a loose "V" shape. i didn't want them to look too organized. The pics are all from one side or the other because of the sun - i have enough pictures of my shadow already!
*yawn* more pics tomorrow...
good morning
Amy : there are birds nesting in the Quince.
Normally birds nest higher up ,at least six to seven feet, but the quince is protecting them.
If you can see the nest and it's made of fine grasses and animal hair it's most likely a Tree Sparrow or Song Sparrow.
Great shots everyone!
RC, I love that trillium.
Beautiful shots, Amy and Shelly. Shirley gets around. I like Salome too. Does she dance? Wonderful trillium, Shelly. And thanks for the ID - that's it! JD also contacted me with it. Thanks to both of you!
Good morning all!, Crud... need to find the coffee pot soon!
Good to know that about the birds!
Thanks Dave! That trillium was the only tough one of the bunch that I planted! 5 years after all the others (of the sessiles that is) dissappeared, it's still going strong!
Glad we could help victor. Hopefully JD just knew it and wasn't sitting there going. darn i should know it, darn I should know it, I know I know it somewhere, ooooo.........

I can see where the flower pics will be longer views as the blooms mature in June.
I like to see plants combined in the tableau in which they live.
OMG I am too poetic today.
Poetic is fine today! I goes well with the rhythm of the seriously strong coffee brewing in the background!
Your shade spot is looking good!
Thanks for the shade garden incouragment, your opinion is important, I admire your gardens a great deal as well as Victor,Pirl, Hemo, Dogip, etc.
Your too sweet Jo Ann. Believe me, I post pictures of only the decent looking areas. I have a whole lotta messes too! And i'm not going to post a picture of those! Well maybe for enough $$$, but It would have to be a lot :-p
Keep us guessing redchick.
have a great day all! I'm off for a biz trip three hours away :-(
Have fun!
Victor you are costing me $$ and extra work with your pics of JP's. I have ordered orangeala and autumn moon with both set to arrive when I work from home and wife is at work.
She may notice the white birch I will take down and replace with a flowering crab who's home will be for the orangela. The birch lost half it's height in an ice storm 2 winters ago. I trimmed it and it is trying to fill in but right now it is basically a 25ft white pole - soon to be fire wood.
