Yay! Good to know!!! I think I will be picking one up in the next few days - I am going to plant it where I am replacing one of my daylilies that doesn't seem to get enough sun! Perfect! Thanks.
Spring Blooms - Part 8
Amy - a correction is in order: I posted the wrong nursery name. Rosy Dawn is the place I have ordered the coleus from. Glasshouse was for other things.
Rosy Dawn has the best selection & they stand behind their plants. A great place to do business with online. Just too many to choose from - like that's a problem...
beautiful RC.... toona & uki are very pretty
I recomended Rosydawn to my daughter and she went nuts with the choices.
Just an example of how subjective I am about gardening----when we hung up I went to RD and placed another order for coleus and will not buy any other annuals.
Sounds good doesn't it?
sure it does
:)
Beautiful, rc! Great Ukis. Never heard of toona. Nice, though.
I am still shocked the bleeding hearts stood up as a cut flower... they are still looking great
Toona used to be called cedrella sin. "flamingo" until a few years ago, if that helps.
Well only the best can be called, 'Starkist'!
lol. Yep, sounds good to me!
I'm happy to know that there is at least one plant out there in the universe that you haven't heard of Victor!
Nice Hostas!
You're talented Hemhosta..... being in two places at once! Ok, just two forums at the same time.... almost the same. :-p
LOL, Victor!
You all have such beautiful photos!! I went out yesterday, May 11th, and took some photos of everything, but not close-ups. It was a year ago on May 11th that Anna and I began the Great Gardening Adventure, and I just had to take some photos for comparison purposes.
I haven't downloaded them off the camera yet. I had to run out and get batteries!!
red-My main allegiance is to the NE forum though, most of the other forums, especially the Genus specific ones, I tend to lurk, more than post...some of those peeps scare the bajeezus out of me. I get the feeling that if they could throw a pruner through the monitor at me they would...lol....
Here is 'Korean Snow'--this was one of my first 'splurges' at Naylor Creek last year!

Lol, I agree with that feeling, that's for sure! I'm posiive that the NE is happy for you allegiance! Wouldn't that be an intersting sight though.. Pruners through monitors... well then the sight would be lost.....
A little late replyng here - the weekends are spent dawn to dusk in the yard every spring. Great pictures everyone. Flowerjen thanks for noticing the rock walls - Built them myself and are a labor of love. I've been thinking of taking pics of just rocks - I have some nice ones.
Redchic - after seeing all the pics you post i think some time could be spent in your yard as well. The Uki shoots were great. I just got one this year and left it out in the sun and went on a biz trip, came home and most of the leaves had burnt and any new growth was dead. I am happy to say it lives with new leaf growth everywhere. Hopefully it will grow up and look like yours. what kind of sun does yours get?
Nice colors, Jo Ann. Cool hostas, Thom. Just had some animal damage on some of mine this am. JM as well.
Hey wha! yeah, I think I should just sleep outside in the yard... it would save some time when I'm getting up the morning to just.... be there already! Mines not nearly as "tidy" as yours though. On those pictures of the "Uki's", on the first one I said that it was "my Uki", and that one is the one (of two actually) that resides in my yard. It get no direct sun at at any point in the day. The other picture is of the Uki at work and it get's direct sun for maybe 4 or 5 hours of the day. It definitely makes a difference. The one at work has much brighter colors than the one at home, but the one at home is still the brightest thing in that dark area. i also have another smaller uki at home that gets sun from about 6 am to 2 pm and it's just happy with that and plenty of water.
I'm very glad to hear that yours is recovering! I think that they are tougher trees than people sometimes give them credit for.
thx redchic - yard neat, (neater after edging and mulch now) garage and basement have about the same amount of dirt right now as yard and if the shop vac does not come out soon I will be "on the list" as my wife says.
Does the ugi at work get morning, mid-day, or after noon sun? I'll probably leave mine in sick bay under the porch with dabbled light adn plant close to Memorial Day.
Bill, my Omure Yama had leaves eaten this am. Grrrrrrrrr!
I saw you mention that. I can't believe something ate leaves. Bug or critter? I've had some voles go at bark no leaves that I know of. In fact the little b--------ds ate two hosta's on me this winter. Just noticed yesterday.
On the bright side I've been trying to grow JP from seed (CQ and Virdis) I picked the seeds two years ago and did the whole zip lock wet tissue in the refrigerator deal with no success. I stuck then in shallow peat pots in a grow bed down back last year and I now have a 1/2 dozen littles now. Pretty happy about it. If they grow up I'll plant them some where.
