HAPPY BIRTHDAY Kim! I think it will open fully tonight! I was going to have him send it to SCNewbie, if I won... but it'll already be unfurled (I'm not an expert, just a guesser)! It's so pretty, even all wadded up, little twangers reaching....... thx for the update, James!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Thanks Bonnie for the b-day's wishes. I'm tickled there will be a winner at any rate. lol. Congrats James for such early successful blooms in the spring! Now open, open, open. lol.

It sure is fun to watch - even knowing it will NEVER make it til June. Maybe us June guessers could get first guesses on the next one..... ^_^

Genna

College Station, TX(Zone 8b)

Arghhhhh I almost certainly have missed it by a day!!! Gee darn, I'll have to be happy with 20 + brugs instead of 21, lol.

You know James you could inform the brug that the story about the early bird catching the worm was prob. a caterpillar that ate the brug, so it may want to slow down a bit, just a day anyway. lol

I dont' know about there but it was still 92 last night a midnight here in west texas.. it is 8:30 in the evening.. dusk and still 100 right now.. all my plants fried today. My baby brugs and cuttings wer in water and still have some fried leaves this evening.

College Station, TX(Zone 8b)

I just came in from watering, I don't know which was drenched more, me or the plants. My potted brugs are suffering more than my ones in the ground, of course.

Anne

(Tammie) Odessa, TX(Zone 7b)

I watered my potted brugs 3 times today and they still looked thirsty.

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

well it was a nice 67* today... wish it could stay that way all year long! When people tell you all that CA in 72* all year... DONT Believe them! LOL!

I can see whoever guessed the date correctly. Velvet Rose is gonna open tonight!!! I can hear Tom Jones singing "She's a lady♫♪♫...she's a lady, and the lady is MINE. Woooo, woooo, wooooh, she's mine!♫♪♫.
LOL all the way to the garden.

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

Well, it does seem that I won't get this one. I'm ok with that, though . . . Becky sent me some seeds that I started yesterday, and after my dr appt this morning, I stopped off at Rainbow Gardens, and got a small 4-5" potted one. Tag says Orange Datura x candida.

There was a double-purple there . . . those flowers are HUGE!

Camden, AR(Zone 8a)

Wow -a hundred degrees already..............geez, I am glad I don't live there! It will be here soon enough!

Genna

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Charlene.... you guessed today didn't you?? WELL... I hope I hope!! LOL

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Beck, I think it has a tiny chance of opening before the day is over, but I am thinking more that it will be tomorrow.

It is definitely within hours of a full open flower. Question is how many hours? Twelve hours might be too late for her to get a photo. So I think it is going to go to AuntAnne.

As my DH always says: close, but no cigar! LOL

Thanks for being in my corner. It has been an interesting thread.

Charlene

Watertown, NY

Syrumani, the double purple is a datura not a brugmansiia, and I would question the one you bought. There are no orange daturas, and so far no successful crosses of datura to brugmansia. Post a picture when you get a chance, someone will be able to tell you which you bought.

Portland, TX(Zone 9a)

I have seen plants tagged orange datura before usually at Lowe's or WM; I think the person who tagged it just goofed. . . .

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

phughes; I've seen plumerias at boxes stores labelled "gingers" so there. lol.
Kim

Portland, TX(Zone 9a)

It makes you wonder how some people keep their jobs doesn't it.

Patty

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Either one.. you or Aunt Anne.. I am just happy someone is getting a beautiful brug!!

James... thanks again for all the excitement and fun you brought our way!
