ha. that cracks me up. DH says that he always has one at work that does that all day!

Careful walking around there. They don't make much of a nest.

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

We have had them here for years! If I can find the nest DH always puts a round bale feeder around it to keep the cows from stepping on the nest. The problem is they usually build their "nest" in a hole made by a hoof right in the "cow lane"!!

Here is a Bluejay taken in my neighbors yard where her Dogwood is in bloom.

Wow! What fabulous birds and bird photos! I love the orioles (even just butt shot Nanny!) and the Grosbeaks! Wow! Mrs. Ed, totally with you on the excitement over the Red-breasted Grosbeak!

I wasn't going to take photos today because it's really dark and cloudy, but I keep seeing new birds out the window. I think this is a Yellow-billed Cuckoo.

oh that cuckoo is so cute. I love that bill.

Just to report, seems my white throated sparrows have moved on. I suppose the white crowned will be next to go. :(

I think I have one male and two female grosbeaks today. They are still only eating the peanuts. i had to laugh rose, when a female just chased the male off!

I just can't believe that they are here!!!

Grandmaggie, I saw my first Gray Catbird today! My pics aren't as good as yours, but I'm just excited to share! You can kind of see the red undertail coverts in this photo.

I like this one where he's diving to another branch. My Ash tree is full of caterpillars and the cuckoo and catbird are liking that very much.

Elphaba...I have been looking for a Cuckoo forever and still haven't seen one! Great Pics!! I'm jealous!!

Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7a)

I saw two male Western Tanagers today for the first time ever and about burst into tears (I am obviously easily moved!). They didn't stick around long enough, though, for me to get my camera . . . and they were pretty active anyway. But at least I know they're here and, who knows, maybe someday . . .

Marlton, NJ

Thats great Murmur! Their so beautiful!

Florence, MS(Zone 8b)

It seems to me that it is much too early for molting but here is this cardinal.

Dover AFB, DE(Zone 7a)

Is that molting or mites?

Marlton, NJ

Tha looks like mite problems. Feathers will regrow.

Florence, MS(Zone 8b)

this little grackle was having a bad day. He was just learning to fly and not doing very good.

My guess is a kitty was trying to have a little Blue Jay lunch.

Rockport, TX(Zone 9a)

I had a White-winged Dove without a tail. It didn't look like a young one without a tail yet. Like yours, it looked full grown and tailless. I found the tail feathers by the side of my house with some broken egg shells! Her tail grew back though and she seemed to fly pretty well without it. Funny-looking though eh?

Marlton, NJ

Might have lost it to a predator GM.

Beachwood, NJ(Zone 6b)

Very strange looking, indeed! I havent seen any feathers in my yard I looked around a bit. GM
He flys with no problem tho and I give him extra peanuts!

Marlton, NJ

Frank Thats a cute Grackle fledgling!

Holy Cow! What a day for pictures! I am overwhelmed.
Great way to top of a day of gardening. I was too busy to watch my own birds.
Thanks everybody.

It was a really grey day, when I took the pictures of the Osprey and figured it's my only chance, to get one.
Got a picture of a bald Eagle, also, on my trip to PEI. The picture is not so good, it was really far.
