Hi, I am new & just moved from Perris, CA to AZ. It's cold here so I need some houseplants. I got an oriental totem pole that is just developing "nubs" & today I saw a Dracaena Massangeana at Home Depot. They told me it's a corn plant. Are these the same plants or just in the same family?
While I'm at it when do I plant my totem pole in soil? thanks
Corn Plant/Totem Pole-are these the same?
I think (although I'm not positive) that the totem pole plant is a Cordyline (another common name for these is Ti or Hawaiian Ti). Cordyline and Dracaena are very closely related genera, so they're related but not the same plant.
Here's some information and photo's of the Corn Plant: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/54287/
All I could find regarding something called Totem Pole Plant was the Hawaiian Ti: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/53151/
