Has anyone grown these? Do they get huge? Would it be ok to plant next to my flowers? I'm a newbie. They look different thought I'd try them. Help.
Castor beans
Hi foxy1122, and welcome to Dave's Garden.
I grow Castor Beans just about every year. Yes, they do get relatively large. On average mine grow to between 5 and 8 feet tall and 3 to 4 feet wide depending on the cultivar. You can plant them in pretty much any sunny location where they will have room to grow without shading your other sun loving plants. They're also very easy and don't require a lot of care - my kind of plant :-)
Happy gardening!

One thing you should be aware of is that they are extremely poisonous, and the seedheads are rather pretty, so they could be attractive to children. So if you've got young kids around who might be tempted to pick the pretty seeds, you're best off not planting these.
Castor Beans are the source of the very deadly poison ricin - just so you know...
Thanks for info on castor beans no kids at home will give them a try, like easy plants and can't wait to see them.
