growing broccoli
broccoli is a cool weather crop. If you can grow it, it would have to be in winter. This is an Australian site. Just remember that thier June is the Northern hemisphere December.

Nemo, Farmerdill is right. Broccoli hates really hot weather, just like lettuce and spinach, etc. You could probably grow it all winter long. I'm planning on trying it in Savannah, GA this fall/winter. I had lettuce do well even through a short freeze, so broccoli is my next experiment! My guess is that your climate is probably even less likely to have a winter freeze than ours due to the moderating effect of the ocean. It's certainly worth a try, along with other cool season crops like lettuces, spinach and peas. During the summer there are always beans and tomatoes and eggplant and peppers... and SO many more! Good luck this coming fall -- and let us know if you try broccoli and how it does.
