Brevialata is finally blooming after months and months of dropping buds. I still haven't figured out what I was doing wrong.

::Edited to say that I seem to have misplaced my lacunosa pics lol. Weird, they should have been with the rest of them. Oh well, that was my third bloom for this month. At least we should all know what those look like :)

And here is my bella! I am thrilled as I almost lost this one but finally took someone's advice and put it into water. That was several months ago and it still resides there. Someday I may get the courage to move it to another medium. Has anyone else moved there's from water to a medium with success?
Thanks,
Dee

I am SO loving everyone's pics of blooms - while waiting.... and waiting.... and waiting.... for the first bloom of the season! :( Patience is definitely not one of my virtues.

If bella likes to grow in water, I'm wondering if it would be a good candidate for growing in Hydroton?

(Zone 1)

Wow! I knew you could root hoyas in water but had no idea they would continue to grow and actually bloom while in water! Great pic of your bella! I would be afraid to move it too if it is doing that well growing in water!

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Good example of different growing conditions: in my environment, H. bella does best DRY!!! LESS water than most!!!

Here is my WHOOPIE in the greenhouse. H. lambii and the fragrance is of cloves and cinnamon. I finally got this critter to live AND the vine is only 4' long with 5 leaves!!!

Here is a photo in the light of H. loheri growing in high indirect light.... And if you see a long narrow brown thing on the top of the plant....center....that is my gh gheko whom I find grasping umbels and licking the honey from them. I suspect HE/SHE is eating the coronas, too!!!

Oh my goodness ... Carol - that one is Beautiful! Love it! And, I really love the scent of cloves and cinnamon so that must be the BEST hoya - in my book!

Ok, now H. lambii is on my list! ^_^ Seems like every day I add two or three more to my very long list, though I know I'm mot alone in that regard!

psssssst, Lin. i am Carol.

(Zone 1)

How cool is that? A greenhouse gecko! Have you named your little gh critter? I think I'd have to give him a name! It must be a little disconcerting that he is eating your plants though! But, a good thing is that he must not be finding bugs to eat!

We have the little green anole lizards and some little brown ones here too ... used to have hundreds, all of a sudden there aren't very many around my screened pool enclosure this year ... I think we might have another invasive cuban tree frog eating them! Might be time to go frog hunting!

I love the Geico Insurance commericals with their little green gecko, one of my favorite commercials of all time: http://images.google.com/images?q=geico+gecko&ndsp=18&um=1&hl=en&start=0&sa=N

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Lin.... There must be a family, cause I find baby ones about 1/2" long from time to time. We have the Anoles too....lots of them.

ROFL ... Carol, Sorry about that! Having computer problems today and apparently vision problems as well! :) I think I must have typed Awanda's name because she started the thread.

I just edited my original post.

Another set of awsome pictures. And I worked on having a hallucinatory sensation of cloves and cinnamon, it was momentary, but excellent. I am right now concentrating on becoming a gecko in your greenhouse.

What Beauties you have there Christina! I don't know what Stimorol chewing gum is so don't know what that scent would be like. If it's as pretty as the flower I know it must be wonderful!

Thanks Christina for sharing those fabulous photos. I have a cinamommifolia rooting now so maybe some day I will have a picture like that. Until then I will just dream.

HI...This hoya always fascinated me with these multiple LONG peduncles...and finally it bloomed. The flowers aren't large...but they smell so strongly of butter they are fabulous. This is IML 1301 H. aff. pubifera...

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Here is a tray of H. rigida...everyone is about to bloom. Now...every plant has a short peduncle...except for that LONG one in front. Cool, eh?

Thumbnail by AlohaHoya
(Zone 1)

Very cool! I really like the looks of that IML 1301 H aff pubifera! Had no idea any of them grew long peduncles like that! Different and very cool.

Your H. rigida's really look great! I must go look that one up in PF and see if there's a photo of an open bloom!

(Zone 1)

Carol, there are absolutely no photo's of H. rigida in PF! I hope you will consider adding a couple of yours! That one above would be great cause it shows the leaves and buds. I would love to see a photo of the blooms when they open! Oh, please put your pic's in PF!
