I found 2 hoya blooms this morning. This one is hoya Bicolor! I love the color on this!
Blessings,

May flowas
Very nice........two neat hoyas to start the month of May....I'm sure it will be a big hoya bloom month.

Beautiful blooms Awanda! I am hoping that someone puts a hoya in my May basket.

awesome blooms........I have that gigantangensis, Its a really fast grower. I think the fastest growing hoya I have. I like the light green foliage on it.
WOW - beautiful blooms, all!!!
Common, but fussy. You must be doing something right, Stella!
The person who traded it wasn't having any luck whatsoever and it was going downhill. She sent me some nicely rooted cuttings and they immediately took off and have many peduncles ready to burst open. I guess she loves it here. Sitting on a window shelf in a south window, next to the sink so she gets drenches almost daily and misted pretty often too. This is really close to my light station so she's in the right place for attention.
Fabulous blooms all! Looks like the April showers are bringing on lots of May flowers.

Bella may be fairly common, but IMO it's one of the most elegant of the hoya flowers!
Beautiful pictures, everyone!
Really nice, Ric - and Stella...that bella makes me so envious!!!! While I considered it my 'bete noir' it failed and never failed to fail. I have luck now as I ignore it, never water it an shove it around. It is so happy!!!! I think I have lost more H. bellas to rot than any other hoya!!!!!
Carol, when I got all the babies from the co-op I had this convoluted fussy-ass soil that I made up for them. They mostly did fine. I lost a few but couldn't tell you which ones they were because some of the tags faded to nada. I need to post some pics of some of the ones that are doing so well though. I'm sure you can ID some of the NOID ones too. Anyway.....get to the point Stella.....when I received the bella cuttings I didn't have the time nor the inclination to put together a special mix for her so I just used the very fine orchid bark straight from the bag. It's so porous I have to water it pretty much daily but this seems to be the way to go. Cracklin' dry soil to drench to dry to drench. The older leaves on this one have some problems that they came with. I'd kinda like to ID the source of the problem but don't have pictures and it's too late at night for good lighting. I thought it was possibly residual from bad spider mite infestation. No mites now but I'd still like to know what caused the leaves to look like this. And I'm sure the donor wouldn't mind knowing what she was doing wrong either.
If you could find a leaf....post it. There are lots of sources we could use to find out....
I'll do that in the morning Carol. The flash on my camera would not do it justice. I'll see if I can get a really good macro of the leaves so you all can have fun diagnosing it.
Aaaah, May Blooms! I have none to show but sure am enjoying this photo album! Lovely blooms everyone! I keep adding more hoya names to my "wish" list ... or maybe I should say my "wish I had more room list! ^_^
Looks like Spider Mites to me.
Thanks Carol, that was my diagnosis too, but what do I know? At any rate, the spider mites are history. There's nothing that could improve these old leaves, right? Maybe misting with something?
NAH...they are discolored from the mites...won't recover...but new growth will be ok...just cut it off.
All the new growth with the peduncles is at the end of these stems. Don't want to cut that part off. If you mean cut the leaves off wouldn't it look kinda scraggly?
It might be best to leave the old leaves on- they won't look perfect, but if you are rid of the mites these leaves will continue to manufacture food for the plant, so will make a contribution to the plants overall health.
At least they aren't as ugly as thrip-damaged leaves, they turn an ugly brownish-silver color as all of the chloropyhll is sucked out.
Feh!
This morning when I was checking for peduncles, I found one on a NOID pubicalyx. There are also peduncles on my kerrii.Woo Hoo!!! ^_^ ^_^ ^_^
An EA hoya only marked as lacunosa. It has about 25 more peduncles and did blast a couple over a month ago. To me it smells like a gardinia. Pictiure shows some water spots as I hung it outside this morning so it could get a drink of rain water. I know it is not anything unusual but sure pleases me.
