Daily Pictures, Volume 102

Melbourne, FL

Probably my yard. My feeders are positioned around a huge back bed full of overgrown shrubs, sort of a "safe haven" for birds. They seem to love it, and will hide out there and chirp and sing their hearts out all day. At the first sign of danger they fly deep into the "forest". When I do go out to take pics I sit in a lawn chair and stay pretty still, but I do have dogs that roam around and bark and they don't really even seem to mind them anymore. Yours will probably feel more secure in time and especially when more Buntings join him.

GG..I never had more than one Blue Jay at a time, now they are all paired up and acting wacky most of the time! There are 6 Baltimores on the front porch fighting over the jelly and nectar. I love the noise they make!! The little Indigo ia out there too...what a great way to start the day!

GP, I did have 2 Buntings the other day and got sooo excited! I do hope more show up. I try and sit outside and wait but I think they are wise to me...maybe in time!

My Red-Bellied Woodpeckers are carrying away food to feed young ones, I presume.

Got some nice pics yesterday, but since I am heading off to work, I will have to send the rest later. Here's a female Cardinal.

And here is a Solitary Sandpiper, evidently on it's way to Canada but decided to visit our pond!

Here is a male Orchard Oriole I took a few days ago. I haven't seen the males for a few days so they have probably moved on, leaving the Immatures and Females behind (who will follow them soon).

Nice shots, rose. You must have eaten your wheaties yesterday!

GG - I have a shot of a robin sitting on her nest that looks very much like your cardinal nest picture.

Nanny - I've got my fingers crossed for you on the oriole.

Oh, my! This thread is so great! I hate to leave it! All the migrating warblers and orioles and buntings were a thrill to look at.

And I loved the colorful shots of the Oregon, California, Canadian, and UK birds.

Lots of pretty bird photos here for the 'DG Bird Files'...(is there one in the making?)

Don't answer that--I know Pelle wants us on the other thread, but I'm book marking this one!

See you over there.

Of course some of the neighbors couldn't come to the party. They have a nice little home in the potting shed. But were to busy feeding and looking after the kids to join in the fun.
