Nice pics GG!
Marilyn, Congrats on all the Grosbeaks!
I don't like having Grackles around but this one posed pretty and showed of his iridescent feathers.
Daily Pictures, Volume 102
So much wonderful pictures. Took a while to go through all of them. Many different kind of Orioles and new birds.
I was away for a few days, to Prince Edward Island, and stupid old me, forgot my camera there. I was so disappointed. Had some really interesting pictures of some pairs of Ospreys nesting, in 2 different locations, and pictures of bald Eagles, sandpiper and great flock of Canada geese. I could have had added to my collection on my way back home, 2 Bald Eagles , 2 Hawks, 1Heron and lots of ducks.
Ah well, will just have to post the ones I got, when I get my camera back.
Nice pics adel!!
Such colorful birds everyone. Thanks for making my day!
Anyone know when the Orioles are due back in Central MN?
Couple weeks I believe.
Thanks Pelle. I am so looking forward to them. I saw a YELLOW goldfinch today. :)
Pelle...I like that shot of the Goldfinch! We now have just a handful and probably migratory! Seems like just yesterday we had between 2 and 3 hundred of them. It seems strange not seeing them hanging on all the full socks of thistle! I love that shot of the colorful Grackle.
Mrs. Ed...Such a pretty little WT Sparrow! We have the lighter colored ones here but they seem to have flown the coop!
Marilyn...I am watching for the Grosbeaks but nada so far. Would love to see you post some pics of yours, it has been awhile since we have had a visit to your yard.
GG...please send a few Hairy's our way...haven't seen one in ages! You certainly have your share of Blue Jays!!
Adel...Love the Bullocks and yes the comparison pics look like two different birds to me. I noticed the Baltimores are different colors also and I don't know if it is age or not, interesting though and maybe Resin will know! Have you always fed peach jelly?
Frank...Awesome pics of the RW Blackbirds!
Nanny..You have such a variety of birds and I love the Grosbeak and Oriole!!
I was crybabying yesterday that I thought the Indigo Bunting had left but I saw one at the tube feeder. Wish there would have been a little sun but here he is anyway in all his beauty!!
Where did you find that feeder, rose? I probably missed that info along the way! lol
Morning Nanny! It is the bottom to a chicken waterer that fits a quart canning jar. I got it at the local feed store and have jelly on the outer section. It is very handy for feeding the Orioles and they seem to love it. I love it as the cost was less than 2 bucks!!
Mrs. Ed...Such a pretty little WT Sparrow! We have the lighter colored ones here but they seem to have flown the coop!
They are all up here, Rose!
Well, not really. I have about 4-6 I think, and the pair of White Crowned.
Okay, signing off for a few days… off to the Iowa Roundup. You'll probably all be on volume 110 by the time I get back on Sunday!
The White-crowned Sparrows haven't read the bird book that shows they are winter residents here. They are all over the place, but may have just come up from the south.
Have a fun time at the RU...we will miss you!
Wow, fantastic pics everyone!! Isn't summer exciting!!
I'm excited, 2 of my summer birds showed up yesterday, and Indigo Bunting was sitting in the Red Bud tree checking out the feeders but he'd decided not to eat. I'll have to put out more sunflower hearts, that seemed to be their favorites here last summer. Also saw the first Eastern Kingbird of the year. I haven't seen the female Rose-breasted Grosbeak again and haven't seen any males yet.
Rose, I saw a White-crowned Sparrow here yesterday, I figured they'd be long gone by now.
dellrose.......The peach jelly was an experiment, since that's all I had at the time. They don't seem to be crazy about it.
Great photos everyone. I had 2 male Rose-breasted Grosbeaks visit my feeder the last two days. However, I didn't see any females. Two years ago, one of my bird feeders was running low in seed and a female Grosbeak managed to push up the plexiglass and got trapped inside the feeder. Fortunately, I noticed it and was able to release it without harm to the bird. Maybe that's why the females decided to stay away from my property !
This past week I also saw my first-of-the-year Orchard Oriole, Baltimore Oriole and Yellow Warbler.
My DH has been ill for several months so I haven't been around much, but wanted to say I am in awe of the photos I'm seeing here - truly amazing! I've still taken pics all this time, but haven't done much with them. Hopefully I will play with some today and post later.
In the meantime, WOW!!
