the first two were from a mothers day basket... from last year... they are doing just fine outside... I hardened them off just like any other house plant and planted them out early before it got real hot.... and in a mostly shady spot ... it only gets late afternoon sun there

only 3 crowns bloomed so far

Sounds great Daisy!!!! The next road trip that I make to the East Coast..... I'll be there. I have friends and family in Tenn. and Mass., Once i've made it that far, I might as well just keep on going!

BigcityPal: Hmmm, i think that I'll be able to remember it both ways now!

Great white hearts, mine usually get frost bite and end up being brownish white within a week or so of blooming.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

that's a bummer

Thanks, Allison! How long do the blooms last? Nice foams and bleeding hearts too.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

been going for a few weeks now and will keep blooming maybe for another month or so... when the weather gets warmer they seem to poop out... but usually just in time for everything else to come to life

I spotted my balloons starting to peek out now

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

thanks for the compliment Laurel: Just returned from the planter makers, she is a sculptor and made one for herself,I admired it so we traded three containers for a painting of her poppy garden.
The sho went well, hope the"I'll be backs" actually mean what they say.
I won't stand on my one arthritic leg waiting.
My friend Jan gave me som Lamium. Beautiful leaves, when and if the sun ever comes out I'll photograph.

So, does anyone want to see what was blooming or leafing out around work today??? Or shall we just keep it to our own places? rc I'm still at work so it'll be a couple hours before I get around to posting anything. ----ya know, In the middle of the night when it's just Sharran, Jo Ann, and myself. Ok, ok, I can't forget the others, schicken, debilu, ngam...you know who you all are!

Work is okay - post away.

oooooooohhh good, good! I think that it's the only way possible that anyone could keep up with a garden like yours victor!!

I do redchic, but am feeling really down about Derby day. Sharran posted about Eight Belles, the filly running. She ended up being euthanized on the track. Very sad indeed.

I say any garden/field/flower is up for grabs. Your new camera is really impressive. I really need to learn to manually focus. Learning curve in effect here. Love the photos you have posted.

believe me, this camera his greatly affected the learning curve for me. If I had to know too much about what i was doing the background of every picture would be in clearview! I am really happy with it. So far, I haven't found a downside. Here at work we're all so sad to hear about the events of the Derby today, I just told them what you posted and everyone is shocked. We've been so swamped that we haven't had a chance to listen to the radio to hear what was going on in the outside world.

What camera do you have, rc? Here is JM 'Orangeola' filling out.

these are all magnificent photos! I see that I shouldn't stay away for more than one day.

Chuck ... did I miss it? How is Eliza?

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

Beautiful Orangeola! How old is it?

The one that I finally decided on is a Nikon Coolpix L18. It was highly rated in the cameras under $200. Most of the cameras up until about $250, really didn't seem to have better image properties, just more in camera editing stuff. Since I already have a photo editor on the computer that I like, I just couldn't see spending more for "editing."

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

About six years old, I think. I always liked Nikon. I'm wishing for the D300 but may have to keep wishing for a while.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

Wow, it has done well for only six years.

It's good to have to keep a wish list sometimes!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I planted it about six years ago, but it was a two year old tree at the time, if I remember correctly.

So glad your happy with the Nikon. As we discussed earlier, my DD is thrilled with hers. DH's Cannon and lenses are all great for someone who knows how to use them, but I probably would have been better off with a point and shoot.

My biggest challenge is the conversion of photos to computer pics. DH is very computer savvy, but it seems complicated to me. Why can't you take a pic. and upload it? I have the patience for lots of things, but have a problem with browsing, compressing, webbing, saving and all that jazz. This needs to be simplified.

I agree with you on all of the simplifying. You would think with technology as it is, that there would be a few less steps involved.

Took me a minute to remember what Duchess of Edinburgh was. Had I not eventually recognised the name, I would've never had thought that that thing in the picture was a clematis. I think it might be prettier there then when the bloom is open.
