Thats too kool - it is different than a joe smoe pot !
Spring Blooms - Part 6
P S I consider myself very lucky to have these unusual pieces.
I love what kids do.
They are so free and unpretentious.
Were you the DG'er who wanted to plant morning glories?
That's the perfect spot.
No, I wasn't, but that's a great idea!
Al it looks like you have caught up to us and maybe jumped a little ahead as far as spring flowers is concerned, very nice indeed.
JoAnn what great pots and I agree very fortunate to have them. Where did you get the columbine? Sounds like a nice one to add.
Sue you gotta love kids and their imaginations, a nice mg would indeed be nice on the "stick" or a small clem or Black Eyed Susan vine. A great artistic triumph for sure. No matter what you do with it, it will make you smile every time you go into the garden, wonderful. :)
Happy to share the columbine is a new plant for me from Bluestone It's been in two weeks and has been in flower one week.
I can't say enough how happy I am with the DG garden watchdog. It has MADE my days.
love the tulip bigcitygal.
how did the art show go Jo Ann? Hopefully you were able to payoff your garden!!!!
The opening was a great success. There were over 60 people and some cousins I rarely see. Helps to use your Xmas card list when sending invites.
There is serious interest in the three biggest pieces, but I don't count the "green" until I see it.
Number 1 "Wild Red Seven" you bet it's Crocosmia.
The whole show 18 paintings ,was all florals.
Wow, I'm glad to hear that it went so well and that you can keep gardening!! Hopefuly the three largest ones are actually taken here soon. that would be nice. The one that you just posted is great.
I really like #2 "lucifer" but they're all great. Always nice when they have real sentiment to them as well.
JoAnn, your Lime Sorbet looks like my Green Apple that I got from Select Seeds.
Al, did you get a sex-change operation? redchic01 called you "bigcityGal"!
Sorry Al! I'm going off a little over 4 hours sleep and no coffee yet...lucky I can read at all at this point in the morning for me!
Was a LONG winter for Al...
After looking at Daylilies and other plants all winter I have noticed some that seem to be alike only from a different grower .I wonder if growers have an overlap on plants and just name them with their own names no matter if the plant resembles someone elses.
I have seen DL' Stella doro that looks just like other yello daylilies. I always assumed there was some wieeeeny difference I couldn't see in the lily with another name like" yellow sunshine"
sounds as if the picnic's going to be at your place this summer daisy!
That's my problem now with DL's and hostas. Way too many that look almost identical. They need a moratorium on new ones for a while.
Very nice, Daisy.
Skylands gets very big, doesn't it?
yeaaaaah Magenta
Very nice.
Thanks Victor. I'm looking at the tag right here and it has a 10 year size of 15'. But we spaced it far enough out from the others that there is room for it to go bigger. It's supposed to grow 12" plus per year. Yeah! It's on an axis from our side door and about 50' from where the center of the currently imaginary but already planned out in my head but don't have any money to build conservatory will stand. LOL
sometimes names get changed at nurserys, sometimes it's accidental and other times it's not. At reputable ones it's just an accident. but, it's most likely the case that the varieties are truly, nearly, identical. You wouldn't believe how many times we've order new plants that are supposed to have some little unique trait about them, then we get them and wonder why in the world did anyone ever even try to get this thing on the market......it looks just like the other 50 white daisy's out there! It's always a big insider joke among co-workers about various plants that looks just like the 10 unique ones just the same as it! the one trait that we always forget about is the hardiness---the two plants may look identical, but one is 20 degrees hardier than the other.

Ge love the pottery container and the paintings. Good luck with your show. I'm the one wanting to grow Scarlett O'Hara MGs (they're sprouted and in place now). Thought I had read somewhere on DG that people made cuttings and was wondering if any on this forum had done that. Was asking because a pot that wintered in my orchid room sprouted MGs for the second year. They climb up a baker's rack and bloom indoors fom January through March.
Daisy, your garden is beautiful. Must be great to have such capable assistants.
Ge that first container is cool
Redchic: picnic? Come on down!
Laurel: thanks! Pug dogs, particularly the ladies, do love to garden. And I can't make a move without this little one right behind me. She also likes to dig in the soft soil, right next to me...so cute!
One wish: I have a question about primula. I got one of those pretty ones early in the spring from the garden center mainly for indoor bloom. Would it survive outside if I planted it or are those house plant types just for show?
