Will my Nasturtiums survive?

Clinton, PA(Zone 6a)

I live in Pittsburgh,Pa(zone 6).I planted about 44 packs of nasturtium seeds last week-April 23rd and there predicting a frost advisory tonight and maybe tomorrow night. Will they survive?

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Yes, they will be fine. They are hardy annuals, which seems like an oxymoron to me, but just means that they'll get through a cold snap like that with no trouble. Good luck! (And welcome to Dave's Garden.) x, Carrie

Mine made it through a few frosts this winter. They thrived in our mild winter. I had to cut them back drastically because they liked the winter so well.

Forty-four packages?? That's a lot of nasturtiums!!! will you post a pic when they flower?

I know. A friend of mine had a small gardening business and I helped her for three years
and this year she handed it over to me.My sister and I planted the nasturtiums along with 20 flats of pansies and violas, and there was also alot of tulips flowering.I planted a little earlier this year to see if the nasturtiums would flower better this year. Then I was second guessing myself when I heard about the frost warning. I will try to send in pics, Im new to this web site and just learning.

Very nice! I don't post pictures too often because I'm too embarrassed by what mine look like, but that looks fabulous! Is that a rock garden, alpines and all? Do your tulips come back? I'm amazed that a lot of ours have.

My grandmother had a huge rock, like maybe even a boulder, in her back yard in Maine, and had little things growing out of the crevices, and I always thought THAT was what a rock garden was. In fact, there were always nasturtiums growing out of that rock. I guess when they say "poor soil" they really mean bare rock? No, she must have squeezed some soil in the crevice and then planted the seeds, we were just never around to see it happen.

Your tulips and pansies are quite splendid, PJP! :-)
