We bought a home two years ago surrounded by flowering trees and rich grean healthy looking pachysandra. Pachysandra is now ailing. From what I've seen on the web, it appears to have leaf blight (volutella pachysandra), scales and be suffering from winter stress, as well. Some of the stems are covered in hard shelled spots, some of the leaves are withered with the tell tale concentric circles and some of the stems are black and rotted. (I don't however see the orange spores that they talk about with volutella pachysandra) Large patches of the planted area are affected. The nursery suggested stimulating growth with Hollytone and then spraying with horticulture oil. We have well water and I just don't like the sounds of using a petroleum product. Any suggestions for something a bit more enviromentally friendly to control this problem?
Ailing Pachysandra
I could be wrong, but I don't think horticultural oil is petroleum based.
