Such great pictures, I feel like I was there right along with you, I just missed the chatter. Looks like you all had fun, you know I would have loved to be along!
I can start my list of plants to get from Heidi when I make it over in the real "spring"...lol
The visit to Dragonfly, Second trip.
Jacquie - go for it!!! I have always like the pot with running down it's side as a water feature. And it creates so many other possibilities from there.
Pix, you were focused yesterday. It was great. But so were we all, so don't worry that you were the only one. I'm fascinated by the bog, too. I might have to do a little informal rock backdrop by the bog I'm going to create this year - certainly not on the scale of Heidi's but I have to try it!!
Heidi, you were everything I imagined and more (as was Dragonfly). You are both light-hearted and enabling - my favorite combination of characteristics in a person. LOL I'm so excited to see my disporum cantoniense mature!!
http://www.paghat.com/disporumcantoniense.html
Hope my spontaneous dog wilding didn't stir things up too much and that Boo is okay today. What sweet kids your pups are. They kept looking into the cab of my truck as though to say, "Did you know there was food in there? Did you want me to take care of that for you?"
Gordon -
I just looked in Plant Files. Looks like growin' has a pseudopanax ferox, too!!
Just found this on meconopsis napaulensis. It's going to be awesome!!!
Cultivation details: Grows best in a woodland soil in partial shade. The soil should be lime-free, moist, well-drained and moderately rich. Dislikes full sun and windy positions.
This species is not hardy in the colder areas of the country, it tolerates temperatures down to between -5 and -10°c. Monocarpic, the plants living for a number of years before flowering but then dying once they flower. A fine plant for growing in open woodland. Plants are subject to 'crown rot' when they are growing in damp conditions.
Propagation: Seed - best sown in a cold frame as soon as it is ripe in late summer. Spring sown seed is slower to germinate. When they are large enough to handle, prick the seedlings out into individual pots and plant them out in the summer.
Oh Carla, so wish you had, but it did rain on us.
I was talking to Heidi, ans she said we have seen the fall, and now the Spring. so the next step is summer, So we gotta set up for another tour.
Then we will have pics of all seasons. to cool. I'm in for Sept. our B-days, hint hint. LOL
This is the branches to get out of the car, took awhile. and all the new babies.
I just love paghat.com. Seems like everytime I come across a really great plant it is there on that site with the best photos. Anybody been to the garden of Paghat?
I have never heard of it, will have to check it out. Course I don't get to visit to many places, thats not close.

I've thought the same thing. I know lots of us have looked around there. Wouldn't it be great if we could sneak in for a tour?
I guess you can write to them at garden@paghat.com . . we could start buttering her and Granny Artemis up a little . . .
Nice, Mary!!
Oh, Tilly, I think you need to offer one of those leaves to Pix to make one of her cement leaves - that has gorgeous form! Envy, definately.
I;m recovering, Mary! Thanks for the good thoughts! Yours is so much bigger than mine! maybe I should move mine to where there is more sun. Is yours in part shade? Better soil? What's up?!!! lol The 10" of snow broke all the big leaves off! But it has new growth, so maybe just a warmer spot. Yours is beautiful, Mary!
OH! Mine is in full shade! No wonder it looks like it does. I got a great spot for it in my sun beds. It will probably just take off! i hope!
Gordon, mine is in part shade, and under a cedar. So it was protected from the wrath of mother nature.
Where did you call get your variegated acanthus?
Dragonfly nursery, I got mine when we went to Heidis last Nov. She has more, we just went again on Sunday.
great! I'll have to make a field trip.
J - It's totally worth it, both to tour her place and for plants. Heidi's about 20 minutes north of the Kingston Ferry Landing. Don't forget to get some meconopsis - we all did - it'll be fun to watch.
K
If you plan on this weekend, I can meet you there, and get to meet you, and I need to see Heidi anyway.

Thanks for the offer Tilly. This weekend I'm on a search for bowling balls and helping my neighbor in her yard.
Well I cant make anyway, gotta go back and help willow. Gonna give her a better program to run, can't get hers LOL
Have fun on the bowling ball search, enjoy

Gosh Heidi! What a spectacular garden. You and Dan must have chosen the best soils and zones because so many varieties and such great soils. Your plant variety is outstanding. I guess I am going to move back to Kit sap peninsula and buy Hood Canal waterfront and grow the big leafs that we can't in Montana. Wonderful garden!
Thats a good idea Steve then we can be neighbors, and you can have Michelangelo in your front yard, with a very nice pond over looking the canal. With the man cave as your garage. Ha Ha
O don't forget the lace curtains for the house. LOL
^_^

Why should I have a statue of a lesser body than 'I' already have. David, how absurd. LOL I think rather 'Venus Di Milo' should be my statue to look into my window while I washed my dishes. Though I would have her arms put back on and have them holding a glass of wine for me when I finished the dishes. And a towel over her arm ready for a bath. Ahhhhhh Thank you Venus for the warm bath.
Sofer, you just have got to make it to one of our events or outings one of these days...
O yes, I have to meet the man who has such a talent as he has, the gift of such MMMM AAAA Ideas, I guess is the best I can come up with, Help me Pixs, Laurie you all have better words than I.
But I think you would more like one of the good witches of OZ. LOL
But you are a good Vet. LOL
sofer is 'the man', to be sure. We are all astounded at his virility and how he engages with the forces of nature on a regular basis. If you want to have a 'david' that is more manly than Soferdig, you would need this one, just around the corner from my house! A more 'virile' statue would be difficult to find or even to imagine!
Ahhhhh . . . but even these incredible collectors of fine statues have to have the same lovely garbage receptacles that the rest of us have - lol!!!
Well placed bushes there Pixy. Who is the statue of, where the soldier has the vanquished head of his victim in one hand and a big sword in the other. That is the one I want. And just to make it cool I would have the "Thinker", next to it, headless of course. That is a statue of me. LOL
Murmur you are an observant person. You must be a medical person or astronomer.
LOL - Sofer, I am obviously a very ordinary person as I notice the most ordinary of items!
I did therefore I refused to acknowledge the relationship to me. No earrings for me.
What I like are the skid marks - is that arriving or exiting Pix? Have you actually met them yet? Gawd I'm curious about them - go and knock at the door. Introduce yourself. Better yet, introduce Sofer!
I almost thought Laurie could see underwear on there somewhere. I had to go back and stare to figure out what she meant!
I would go meet them too! Just bring a plant and knock on the door and say you are with the neighborhood plant society and you noticed they did not have this in their yard!
Heidi
thought you might like this, a trip down memory lane.
