I have a new veggie garden this year. I have saved one end of it for a pumpkin plant and watermelon plant. Just one each. I have noticed that this area of the garden gets a lot of shade. Will these two plants do okay without full sun? If not, are there any veggies that will take a shady area?
Thanks
Question about shady part of veggie garden
Salad greens will stand later w/o bolting in the shade.
Nancy_ann, is it deep dark shade, or is it more like bright shade/dappled sun? If it's not deep shade, that will help quite a bit.
its more like bright shade.
In the shady part of my garden (only gets about 2 hours of sun), I grow lettuce, spinach, and rosemary. I live where the sun is extremely intense and my watermelons and pumpkins thrived because of it. I don't know if they'd have done so well had they been in the shade.
