I have a Black Eye Susan (rudbeckia) that I absoultlly love. I spread one of the seeds off the seed head and I'm not sure if cross pollenation has occured. Or what has happened. The seeds have grown into plants and are now flowering. I have one plant that has all yellow petals except one flower has burgandy stripes. I have 2 other plants that have yellow and burgandy and or blackish color in the petals. ... Is this normal? Is this Cross pollenation. I do have Indian Blanket flowers in my yard also.
Whats going on with my Black Eye Susans?
Yes and no -- It might have cross pollinated, but a Rudbeckia won't cross with a Gaillardia. My guess is the ancestry is complex on the double rudbeckia and not all of them come true to the parent.

Wow ... that makes sense. Thank you.
