Rain had a great idea of having a thread of something you are wanting. Why don't you keep your own post going by editing when you think of something else you want. We never know when someone else might have it and be willing to share or trade. I am not suggesting that these wants end up in big giant trades unless you and the other person really want to do it that way.
People can dmail you if they have what you are looking for so don't post it here..........Is that OK with everyone.
This will be just a "want" thread with your own post edited when you want something else or think of something else a day later or a week later.
******edited to say again that each person gets one post that they can edit or we will get lost in conversation............just one set of want list...........it can be edited but please use the same original post, dimmer and everyone else.

Ok heres my list so far.
species strep.-johannis
species strep-kentaniensis
Strep Tequilla sunrise
streps from Japan
compact streps.
sinningia Bright Eyes
Where do I start? :) There are so many plants I would love to try.
I'd love to get my hands on some new Codonanthe (other than the digna, and 'paula' I already have). I prefer species that may be maintained in small (3") containers.
Micro and mini Sinningias (other than the pusilla). I'd prefer types that remain 'evergreen' and don't have a significant dormancy.
Strep seeds. Any type/cross/hybrid are fine. I would just like to try my hand at starting these from seed.
Petrocosmea leaves. Small growing species preferred. I've never tried them and thought it would be neat to try a leaf or two.
Bumping this back up so people can see it again. Anyone have anything to add, delete, or offer? ;o) Between all of us here, we have an AWESOME collection of Gessies! Surely we can help each other find those hard-to-locate plants. ^_^

Sorry about not going to the post office.....still no teeth and still have the shingles (LOL)........I will get someone to check this week for me.........
Thanks
Gail
Bumping this back up. Better keep your list updated! You never know who might be checking! ^_^
I don't know any of the names offhand...but I'd love a nice strep with variegated foliage that is relatively easy to grow, and I love the ones with the 'fantasy' blooms! Purple is my favorite color, and purple and pink are a stunning combination, IMHO.
For Mom....I'd like to find another one or two Streps with 'small' flowers....I gave her one and she absolutely adores it, and she's received lots of questions and compliments from visitors.
I swear, you can NOT find Streps around here, at any nurseries...I have no idea why? And if the were for sale around here, believe me....I'd know it! (Ü)
Nan, this Google search might help you find some fantasy names:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&as_q=fantasy&as_epq=&as_oq=&as_eq=&num=10&lr=&as_filetype=&ft=i&as_sitesearch=streptocarpus-info.com&as_qdr=all&as_rights=&as_occt=any&cr=&as_nlo=&as_nhi=&safe=images
I'm not completely sure which ones have small flowers, but I know that Kitten Face has small very light pink flowers and a ton of them to boot! It's one of my favorites! Not a spectacular flower in any way, but the sheer number of them can be quite impressive.
Nobody around here sells Streps, either. I've been to every nursery around and they look at me like I'm crazy if I even say "Streptocarpus" so I've given up. LOL
Thanks for that link!
lol! Funny you mentioned Kittenface, as that is the one that I gave to my Mom!
She absolutely loves it, and would like another one or two similar.....I have a couple of streps at home that have larger blooms...and one plant will probably be ready to divide soon (again, something I've never done that 'scares me'!) and I plan to give her a division.
Just for my information, does anyone know, offhand, of any that have blooms similar to the size of "Kittenface"?
I do have a trade set up for next spring for a lovely Strep w/Fantasy blooms! I'm excited!
While I"m at it, does anyone know of any particular variegated Streps that are relatively easy to grow? Or do you find the variegated ones difficult? I'd like to focus on getting just *one* sometime in the future...maybe next year.
Nan, I have leaves down of Ice Wine and Ice Pink Flamingo..................can you wait until they grow up a little...............I will make a note in my folders to remind me..............they are not small plants but I don't know of any variegated strep that is small. Does anyone know of one........
I am starting to look real hard for streps with blooms that are tiny and prolific in blooming.......I will share my info when I get it........I do have a few but I am trying to propagate them right now.......so I don't have any extras...........
thumblina has tiny blossoms & i think falling stars. also iced wine is a great varigated strep to grow, also snow plumb pretty. Also i have quite a few of micro mini sinningia mighty mouse if anyone wants one, let me know.
mrsbonnie
Oh, Nan........Thumbelina is a favorite of mine..........bummer, I let my last plant go........hope I have a leaf down.............do you have one, Bonnie and could send me a leaf of her when you send a leaf of Cape BAby..........tell me if you need any leaves, Bonnie.
sure will, is there anything else?
bonnie
I want one of everything. LOL Just kidding. I'm just learning how to take care of what I have (epicias) and some AVs. I received new gessies in the swap, so I'll have to take care of them first before I list what I'm looking for. Give me a few months.
nope..................that sounds great and you tell me what you want.........
Why thank you Gail....I'm most certainly in no hurry for any plants at all, as it's nearly time to bring in the outdoor plants and I'll have that 'space' problem before I know it.
I'm looking to next year for getting anything new at this point, LOL!!! (especially since a sweet friend of mine sent me a gift certificate that allowed me to buy 3 new plants!;)
Bonnie...thanks so much for the list of streps w/small blooms!
Now I know what to look for!
I can't believe I never saw this thread!! I must be blind!! oooo I am going to get a want list made up..the trick will be trying to keep it a reasonable size..lol..everything I see it seems I want :o
ok these are my *Extreme* Wants..want badly enough to mortage my home for..lol..not really but I am sure you all can relate when it comes to an... I have been looking forever for plant : ))
Streptocarpus Lemon Curd
Streptocarpus Lemon Frills
Mico Mini Siningia Razzmatazz
Micro Mini Sinningia Snowflake
This message was edited Sep 17, 2008 9:05 PM
glad you posted those but I don't have them, Cedarnest.............will look for them..............
Nan, do you have anywhere to plant these and overwinter them or do you want me to keep them until spring.............my computer won't take my memory card..........let me reboot the computer.......be back.........
Hey, Gail....I DO still have the Graptophyllum you sent me!
It got scale a while back, so it's not in 'full glory' or anything...but it's doing pretty well! I should cut it back, honestly.
I think it's the second one you posted....so I don't have the 'darker' one you spoke of.
I wouldn't mind having it, really....I could plant them together...no reason I can't right?
Gail...if you'd like a leaf of 'Kittenface', I'm sure my Mom wouldn't mind giving one up! Especially if I tell her I plan on finding her a couple more!
I haven't read or heard how things went for you with the hurricane...did it bypass as you'd hoped?
we didn't get anything but my heart breaks for people in Houston and all surrounding areas. I just talked to a friend who had been down here with me but was itching to go home to take care of her plants. She said she still has no electricity......no red lights......etc..........no food...........no grocery store...........etc........it is just horrible for the most vulnerable people. Others with money got out and go back and forth to see how things are going.........the poor stay there with nothing and sit in line for food at the food banks....I know because my daughter called her old nanny to see how she fared and she was totally dependent on the food banks. (She said the food was horrible and she thought it had chemicals in it....that was a joke). This wonderful lady from the Dominican Republic wouldn't dare take money from my daughter so my daughter sent her a gift certificate to a grocery store for when it reopened so the nanny could buy fruit for her grandchildren.
I am going put in my folders a note to send you those in two weeks. I am inundated with mail outs right now..................happy you want them.........of course I would take a leaf of kitten face.........don't have her.
Glad to hear that - but also feeling empathy for those affected.
Don't worry about sending me anything...I should probably wait until next year, anyway.
I'll get one of those leaves for you, though....will let you know when I have it!
