Yeahhh tubors.
I am crushed---- I had asiatics planted in three tubs, for years.
Moving set the tubs in a different location, now I find rotted bulbs and some with a small sprout and not much in the way of roots.
I had a feeling they wouldn't make it when the containers were frozen and had solid ice on the tops into late March and early April when everything on the east and south of the house was sprouting.
BUMMER
Guess I'll have to replace with a tall20" part shade loving plant.
Any sympathetic suggestions are welcome.
I know where to go to order a substitute.
Scattelogical ramblings and desultory humor - Almost May
Coleus are excellent for shade to part sun.
And caladium.
Rosey Dawn is on it's way as we speak.
I have ordered some coleus that like sun, so I'll be covered no matter.
Thanks PIRL you always come through.
These pictures should be in the "before and After" thread but here goes, they are not a majoe hard scape project so I thought this was the best place.
Started planting my containers.
This corner only get early AM sun
Victor there was a time when I worked at the games but when my daughter had cancer I asked to be excused from them(she is fine and in remission for 5 years now) .
Pirl - I have no idea!! Will let you know how I make out.
My best for your daughter, Debbie.
Victor - Thank you. She is/will be fine, I truly believe that. At this stage of the game she is considered cured. We still continue to go to Boston/Jimmy Fund for routine check ups but she is a survivor!!
That's great news!
Debbie,
I love hearing things like that....it's good to know that some do beat cancer! Congrats to you and your DD!
That's wonderful, Debbie. Best wishes to DD, a true survivor.
Thank you to all.
My begonia's made it!! I can't believe it. Some of the flowers were lost but none of the green!!

WOW Hardy begonias - - - who knew
Jo Ann
Awesome!
You must be very relieved. I can 'hear' it in your post.
Thanks folks! She had a great experience.
Does anybody else hate this commericial, it's for Southwest airlines and this lady won't let this guy push the button for his floor in the elevator??? I just want to body check her right into the wall. I can't watch it anytime it comes on. I grit my teeth thru the whole thing.
Ok, thanks just had to get that off my chest.
I think a lot of commercials are designed to get your attention in a negative way.
I one's I hate are "Mr Clean". It epitimizes stupid women needing to be coached by a man. I don't buy it. I don't buy the product.
I also won't buy from anyone who screams at me.Cars are HUGE here. I'm so sick of the gimmic I put the mute on.
Crazy Eddy comes to mind also.
Course he was arrested for inappropriate accounting and duplicate books.
to tell the truth, i don't watch commercial tv that much any more.
I am almost always tuned to tcm. I love old movies, and there are no commercials. How do they do that?
Lots of money in the pockets, Gloria. That's my opinion anyway.
I could forgive the commercials if the programming merited it, but unfortunately the programming tends to match the intellectual level of the commercials.
RIGHT on Gloria:
Back in the early 60's some one said TV is the great American Wasteland. They were so right. It has been dummed down even more since then.I never have seen so much made out of nothing. Even the Bravo channel has a line up of reality shows that are innaine and useless.
I do like Top Chef and Project Runway I like to watch creative people in action even if the last season was obviously contrived. When I am aware of my head being run like that I limit the hours in front of it.
I've never watched a single reality show and don't plan to. I rarely watch tv - just sports. When my wife and I find some time (rarely), we love TCM.
i think top Chef and especially project runway are important shows because they give insight into what certain occupations are like. I think there was a Martha Stewart show also that shows the competition in her business.
It reminds me of graduate school, but I hated the competition there and so many good people get washed out. But in the end, just like some of the winners on those shows, the heat of the competition is just a fun game when you know you are the best and you have arrived at the point where there is No Contest.
There always was a sinister pleasure in "acing a test" when everybody else was sweating blood over it.
ARGH. Im so glad that phase of my life is over!

I still like the challenge, though. Although I am glad that phase is over for me, too, I like to test myself. If watch anything on TV, it's Jeopardy. And once a week I will watch the NASCAR race.
I like competitive dog grooming. Can you tell that I just got cable for the very first time ever?
I haven't seen competitive dog grooming!
One of my fondest memories though is attending my very first dog show in Santa Barbara. It was at the fair grounds. I came into a shed where 100 or more chows were being groomed for the show.
First I only saw them from behind and Id never seen a chow before. Big as bears, red haired, sitting on their stools being fluffed. When you see their faces you can't help but laugh!
OMG What a sight from behind.
So funny when you see the people all dressed up and running with them!
I watch some of the Westminster annual bash.
Great movie parady
"Best in Show" Christopher Guest production as in "Spinal Tap"
Oh, yeah. I love those two movies. So funny.
Candyce-who do you usually root for in NASCAR?
I love watching Hell's Kitchen, big Dancing with the Stars fan couldn't get into American Idol this year and my guilty pleasure The Bachelor, I don't know why I like it so much it's probably one of the dumbest reality shows out there.
Th DG marketplace is now open Anyone buy yet??
I want to put some books up for sale when I get back from vacation! Did you see the picote morning glory seeds? Wow. I have bought off the classified ads in the past.
Are you off on vacation, Cat? Have fun!
I go to Baltimore on the 15th and return on the 18th. I will get to spend time with 2 of my sisters and maybe a great niece. And I'm going to eat crab cakes!
