Thanks folks, I do intend to grow them all, but not all the first year.Mike
First Lilies of the Season
Aggiegrl, very nice. I especially like Jet Stream.
Steve, I like the Orientals. I don't usually go for orange but that Asiatic with the yellow one in the background sure brightens things up.
Moby, thanks for the lesson. Now if I can just remember it.
LOL Well, that's an overly simplified explanation, at the very least.
Simple is good. My mind just can't seem to hang onto things any more.
Pretty. :) I love the reds, the brighter the better, and I love the pinks, and the yellows, aw heck, I love them all! :) LOL
Pretty lilies, ,Moby :-)
Thanks daltri - I love orange and yellow combined. I hear lots of people here who say they don't like orange flowers! But, I placed an end-of-season order from B & B for 60 Asiatics yesterday, and they called me today while I was at work to ask about a substitution for the one variety I ordered that was sold out - guess what the orange one LOL. So I got some more "Grand Cru"
Nice red lilium, mattsmom. Very even color. It is hard for me to find solid reds that don't fade some.
Steve, great looking stem! Not even the marties are close to blooming yet and your OTs are preparing to WOW you!
Steve, those are pretty spectacular! Wow.. :) Keep the pictures coming!
Diann
Just look at the height on those ! Wow!
I wouldn't have to lay on the ground to try to get a picture of those! :) Sweet!
Very nice ~ the view is going to be spectacular!
Breath taking!!! What are they 6'? Wow. Mike
Wow! Can't wait to see those in bloom.
Lovely, just lovely. Keep those pictures coming! :)
jmorth I must say that creeper you have as a ground cover is a nice contrast with the lily foliage. You guys and your great imaginations with plant material put me to shame again and again. Very nice.
Beautiful Steve. I bet that smells heavenly there at the entrance.
"Brindisi" is wonderful. It almost looks like a tulip. Steve, I enjoy your lilies so much each year. I had my first one open today. This is Monte Negro. I planted 6 of them last fall. This one was closest to the house. The others look like they won't open for a few days yet. They are really a bold red.
susan
Wow Susan, you're way ahead of me!
And me! I have buds galore, but not even the marties or the pixies are anywhere near blooming.
I have buds on a few Orientals that I planted earlier this spring, but can't remember which spot I put the Starfighters, and which spot I put the Muscadet. I did think they were much taller than they are--they are about 6" tall right now, with 3 or so buds on each plant. One variety has buds, the other does not yet. Anyone know which blooms first? I suppose it will be obvious once they open. . .
One of the plants looks kind of twisted, like someone grabbed it and rotated it as it was growing. Does this indicate some kind of virus? Still has a few buds on it--should I remove it now, to avoid spreading some potential disease, or wait till it blooms and see? I'm new to lilies, so don't know much about their problems.
Thanks all :-) I can only hope the heat doesn't burn everything up!
Very nice Monte Negro, Susan. Yours is a lot prettier than mine was. I planted mine last fall and it didn't put on much of a show this spring.
Could that last one of Steve's be 'Anastasia' maybe?
Love 'Swansea'. It's a very unique color.
Thanks Tracey :-) I am surprised how much I like it!
Well I didn't plant anything named Anastasia" that I can recall, so I guess I will have to wait till they open more. I am so bad at identification and labeling!!!
yours are really starting to pop, Steve! you are going to be in for quite a show with all the beauties you have.
