lily, here's a pic of a Monte Negro from Von Bourgondien. I planted them last fall and am looking forward to seeing them next month!
First Lilies of the Season
I grew "Stones" at my last place - actually they got quite tall. Very floriferous but in my sunny climate they bleached and faded badly. Didn't bring them with me to the new place.
Steve, they probably would have done well with some afternoon shade. :)
True Diann - and I have lots of shade here!! Maybe I'll try again at some point.
Moby, thanks for the link, I'll gain some new info. from learning, reading. revclause, your pic. of 'Stone' is very nice. It was planted last fall, Steve so the blooms aren't that numerous? Here it's today. This is about 1.5' - 2' tall. I think the bulbs got mixed with my 'Stargazers' in the area...
Tracie, I love your collection, especially Vermeer. Here I go. lol.
Kim
this is my first year with real lilies and they are just so elegant! i just wish they lasted longer!!
tracie
Wouldn't it be wonderful if we were to get Liliums' blossom all year round? lol, I however, will enjoy them as much and as often as I can.
Thanks to each and everyone on this forum that I've gained alot more understanding about how to cultivate these flowers in our climate.
Kim
Yeah, I've been whining for repeat blooming lilies for quite a while now. ;)
Aggigirl
They look like they're a Cappa di Monte sculpture. OO they're so beautiful. Onto my wish list they go!
Very nice lilies, aggie and lily_love. I really like "Vermeer" also and am going to make a point of getting "navona" even though I am not a white lily fan, normally. It has been HOT here - the heat wave is not expected to end till middle of next week. Thermometer still says 90 dehrees at 7:39pm but only about 85 in tne shade. Thankfully most of my lilies get afternoon shade. Lots getting ready to open now.
I have some pink Asiatics starting to open up now!
Your third new pic, the Asiatic...that's outta this world!
Wow, Steve, those are really cool!! :) it's 55 here and i've got the funace running again.... brrrrr We're supposed to warm up tomorrow. :)
What's the name of that Asiatic? Is that one you got from Mags?
I bet it's from me....it's 'Tiny Sensation'. Do you like it Steve? I like some of that Tango look, not all, but some of them.
Nice lilies! I am loving your lily season you guys!
Ah, I wondered... :)
I love all these lilies and am jealous! We are probably another month from first bloom. It's been frigid here!
It's been frigid here too. I am surprised to see anything advancing at all.
DG is great for a nice long staggered lily season.
Nothing is advancing here except weeds. And my small crop of snow peas (a good thing).
I'm a long way from blooming here too. Even the most advanced lilies have just the tiniest little bud clusters so far.
Buds? what are those?
Beer...
Oh yum!! fresh peaches and lilies!! Much better than beer! :) LOL
Yum! I love peaches too! They look great!
How did I ever MISS that lily? I absolutely love it Magnolia!
Thanks yous guys :-) I think that is the one I got from magnolia - thanks Tracey!! Yes it is quite vivid and even though it is still small, the blooms are big and it is very showy from a distance and eyecatching. I am looking forward to it developing and multiplying! And I have never been a big fan of Tango-type lilies either but this one is really nice. Thanks for bringing it for me!!!
^_^
BTW Diann the hostas are really doing well, even in this heat we've been having. All of them look great. I will shoot you some pictures.
Lily_love, I have some fruiting pear trees and the neighbor has peach trees, but i can't believe how far along yours are!!! Is that normal? I have only just begun growing fruit trees - yet your look almost mature and it's not even the end of May?!
Come to the UMW round up llilyfan and there will be another one up for grabs ^_^
Those peaches really do seem to be very developed even for the south. You can send me some, you know. Yum!
Oh, how I wish I could, but it just won't be possible. Maybe next year, it'll take me that long to save the gas money!
